CHAPTER 44
Chapte 0044
Mirande checked the fudge as soon as she reached her apartment. There were still plenty of groceries left from yesterday She decided to whip up a beef stew, pork ribs, scrambled eggs, and some salad.
Her movements were ewifi as she washed and chopped up the vegetables.
On the other hand, Solomon had no cooking skills at all. Surprised, he said, “Most people would order takeout or eat at restaurants these days. Unlike you, there are fewer women who would cook for themselves nowadays.
Miranda smiled faintly. “Everyone has their own way of life. I’m just used to cooking for myself.
Solomon watched her as she busied herself in the kitchen. Then, he glanced around the room. The house wasn’t big, but it was clean and though bully decorated.
There was a bookshelf filled with books in the living room. Solomon noticed that most of them were technical books. One book particularly stood out to him because it was about physics.
He didn’t dare to look any further as he felt it was a little impolite to scrutinize a woman’s home for too long.
Soon, Miranda served the steaming hot dishes on the table. The aroma wafted into Solomon’s nostrils and made his mouth water.
He took a bite of the pork ribs, and his eyes widened in surprise. “This is so delicious! Your cooking skills are amazing!”
He was used to having takeout that was greasy and salty, so the homemade dishes. Miranda made tasted heavenly to him.
Miranda was amused by his exaggerated reaction. “Eat more if my cooking suits your taste.”
Solomon nodded and said, “Thank you so much for this meal.”
His eyelashes fluttered slightly, as if he suddenly felt a little shy. “Anyone would be lucky to be your boyfriend with your cooking skills and outstanding achievements…”
Before Miranda could reply, a loud bang on the door interrupted them. Frowning, she put down her cutlery on the table. “You go ahead and eat. I’ll check what’s going on.”
When Miranda opened the door, Tina tried to drag her out without saying a word. Miranda resisted, looking bewildered.
“Come with me to the hospital. Hans fell ill, and he’s in the hospital. He needs you.” Tina
urged her.
However, Miranda didn’t move an inch. She lowered her eyes and said, “We’ve already broken up. I have nothing to do with him anymore.”
Tina couldn’t believe what Miranda had just said. She demanded, “Hans is suffering from gastric perforation, and yet you’re still sulking? Are you that heartless? Didn’t you say you loved him? Is this how you claim to love him?
“You clearly knew that he’d mentioned breaking up in a fit of anger, and yet you took it seriously. How could you throw a tantrum now and blame him for not indulging you?
“When did Hans ever treat you poorly in the past six years? You lived in a mansion, dressed up in designer clothes, had your pick of luxurious jewelry, and owned a black card that you could use at will…”
Even Tina felt envious as she listed these things. She didn’t even have a black card ofBelongs to © n0velDrama.Org.
her own!
She continued, “And to think that I used to speak up for you! All I’m asking is for you to pay him a visit at the hospital. Are you that reluctant to do that?”
Miranda had a cold expression on her face as she replied flatly, “Yes, I’m unwilling to do that. You can leave now.”
“Fine!” Tina was so angry that she couldn’t help but laugh. “Remember what you said today. You’d better keep your word and not come crying to Hans, begging him to get back together!”
With that, she kicked the door hard and left without another glance.
Tina’s departing footsteps faded away. Miranda’s knuckles were white as she tightened her grip on the door handle.
“Um… Are you okay?” Solomon asked awkwardly. He hadn’t heard everything clearly since he’d been inside, but he could tell the two women had had a heated argument.
Miranda closed the door and turned to him with a smile. “It’s fine. Let me get you another portion.”
Solomon glanced at the expression on her face. Miranda appeared calm and showed no sign that she was upset. “Alright.”
However, the atmosphere was noticeably more tense during the latter half of the meal.
