Chapter 3 Schoolmates
Sett could barely endure such humiliation, as he knew that it was hopeless to fight Antonio, who was an amateur boxing champion and a representative from senior high. He didn't have a chance to fight a guy like him.
"Be sure to come inside, Fatso; don't make Lucy and the others wait. Otherwise, I'll break your leg." Antonio eyed Sett dangerously. "Let's go, Anna, that fatso is lucky that he was even invited." © NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
Sett struggled to get up while holding the ticket. This was the reason he didn't want to get involved with his senior high school classmates.
A moment later, he was standing in front of the reserve room. He could hear his classmate celebrating inside. He pulled all his courage together as he opened the room's door.
"Oi, oi, look who we have here; it's Fatso Sett! What are you standing there for? Hurry up and have a seat." A lanky man chuckles.
Sett's attention was immediately drawn to a gorgeous short-haired girl playing with the glass.
Lucy?
It's only been a year, but she has become more beautiful and radiant. He wondered if she was still single.
He wanted to take a seat next to Lucy as she was the one who invited him, but because there was a bag in that seat, he dismissed such thoughts and decided to take a seat beside a tan-looking lady who was polishing her nails. He couldn't quite recognize who she was, but he was sure she was a classmate.
"Go away, fatso, that's reserved for my boyfriend." She slapped Sett on the shoulder as she snorted.
"Don't seat in the middle your to fat, you'll occupy more space.... seat at a separate table."
Damn it!
Sett felt frustrated; he could only comply after being insulted. He wished he hadn't come here in the first place.
"By the way, Lucy, I heard you got into a prestigious college." Antonio beamed as he said that.
"Is that even a question, Antonio? Of course, our school president would get into that kind of college, and don't make it sound like you are not getting into a prestigious college. Everyone knows that your third honor on the high school campus." The tan girl rolled her eyes at Antonio.
Suddenly, she recalled something as she glared at the fatty Sett, who was silently looking at his phone in the far corner. A playful smirk emerges on her face. "Hey, fatso, what college university are you aiming for?"
Sett ignored the question, as their conversation was already hurting his self-esteem.
"Oh, I'm sorry you aren't going to college since your family is now poor." The tan girl snickered.
The topic was belittling his parents, making Sett's face turn pale.
"Heh, he isn't as useless as you think. You guys may not know this, but fatty Sett hit a jackpot. Now everyone is envious of him....." Lucy said mysteriously, causing everyone to pay attention to her.
"Stop making everyone guess, Lucy, just spit it out. I want to know what kind of jackpot it is!" Antonio blurted out impatiently.
"Alright, this is what happened. Fatty Sett married the Laurel Family's third miss!" Lucy replied, as her eyes shone.
Upon hearing that, everyone gasped in surprise.
"What! Do you mean Sheila Laurel? The newbie superstar actress that everyone loves? I saw her on television yesterday, and she was offered a million-dollar contract by a famous director..." Anna's eyes widened as she paused for a moment before staring in disbelief at the silent Sett.
"You mean this idiotic fat guy is the husband of the famous Sheila Laurel? Are you kidding me right now?"
At this moment, Antonio's eyes burned with jealousy. He couldn't accept the fact that fatty Sett, whom he had always bullied in school, would become a son-in-law of the Laurel family! A family that no one dared to provoke, as they held even the Darian City's officials and politicians between their fingers!
Tsk! He clicked his tongue. It was very hard for him to swallow the fact that this timid fatty had climbed to a higher status than him!
As Antonio was pissed off, he was about to grab Sett's collar when suddenly he heard Lucy giggling.
"But there's a catch in their relationship. Recently, the Laurel family declared that they wouldn't acknowledge the marriage between the two families, as Sett Crossword is "too incompetent."
She let out a sigh before she glanced at Sett in the corner of her eyes, but when she noticed there wasn't any change in Sett's expression, she was disappointed. "... enough of that issue. We should all eat first. After all, we are here to celebrate our class reunion. "
"You're right, Lucy; hey, fatso Sett, we already ordered our own meal; you should order your own, and since you're the Laurel Family son-in-law, you should foot the bill as well!" Antonio chortled, without the
slightest change in his expression.
Sett was speechless. He was intending to borrow some money from them... How did it come to him to pay the bill?
"I-I don't have any cash right now..." Sett's face turned bright red, feeling ashamed."...
Pfft! This is so funny. You're telling me the son-in-law of the Laurel family couldn't afford to spend money on his classmate? Not to mention his Crossword family young master, seriously?" Antonio cracked up, and he couldn't hold it anymore as he held his stomach in laughter. The truth was that everyone already knew that Sett was exiled from the Crossword family and that his identity as the son- in-law of the Laurel family had been compromised.
Having enough of the insults, Sett stood up and swiped his eyes at everyone's faces. His fist trembled as he felt like bashing their skulls on the table, particularly Antonio Paul.
Sett grabbed the doorknob and, without turning back.
"Lucy, thank you for the invitation, but I've got to go." Sett leaves without waiting for her reply.
"That fatso is just embarrassed to admit he couldn't order his own food. It serves him right. Does he really think he can have a free meal using our money? He shouldn't just starve to death for all I care!" Antonio sneered as if what he did was right.
He then turned his attention to Lucy, who was giggling to herself. "By the way, Lucy, why did you even invite that fatso?"
He was curious at this point. Everyone turned to look at Lucy, as normally Lucy wouldn't do such a thing. After all, she had to keep her image as a kind angel.
