THE REMORSEFUL BILLIONAIRE

CHAPTER 27

Judith’s POV

Nathan proposed to me in a five star hotel in London. The media, event planner, music band and almost everyone were involved since I was getting married to the most eligible bachelor in London.

“Would you please marry me and make me a complete man?” he said as he got on one knee, holding the most expensive diamond ring ever. According to the media, the ring could comfortably buy two Rolls-Royces.

“Yes, I will,” I answered as I took the ring, while a music band sang a song.

It was a beautiful proposal party. I never knew Nathan could be so romantic. I’m so grateful for the gift of him.

Even the twins were so happy. They loved and relied on Nathan so much. They are glad I’m getting married and that they will be getting a father too.

Everything is happening so fast, it hasn’t even been up to six months since I met him, and I’m glad my life is finally taking a better course. It seems too good to be true. The heavens are definitely on my side; they heard my plea. I have always wanted a man who will love my kids as much as he loves me.

Nathan suggested I stop going to work, as it wouldn’t make sense for me to still be working as a PA for him, and I moved into his mansion since we are getting married soon.

“Babe, I think you should stop coming to work. After the wedding, you can start any business of your choice, or whatever it is you’ve always wanted to do.”

“Okay, I have been thinking about it too. I can’t deal with taking care of the twins, planning the wedding, and also coming to work,” I said, agreeing to this suggestion. This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.

**************

I was discussing with the event planner for the wedding on the phone, when the gateman walked in and informed me someone was looking for me. I ended the call to go check who it was.

I saw Felix. “How did he always know where to find me?” I thought as I approached him.

I thought he was here to plead for us to get back together, but he has disturbed look on the face which told me that he was here for an entirely different issue.

“Please, Judith. Just give me a chance to explain myself,” he begged desperately like his life depended on it.

“Okay”, I finally agreed. Then we drove to a nearby cafe, where I went in disguise. Since the proposal, almost everyone in London recognizes me as the billionaire fiancee. So I hardly go out or go out in disguise to avoid unwanted attention.

When we got there we ordered for a fruit juice, and then he handed me a paternity test result. After checking the result, I couldn’t deduce what it meant.

“Whose paternity test is this? I asked, confused and somewhat angry.

He kept quiet for a while, like he was torn between telling me or not. Then he finally spoke. “it’s the twins’ and Nathan paternity test, and you can see it’s a match.

I didn’t understand what I just heard. It seemed I heard wrong, and whatever, the man in front of me is saying didn’t make any sense. I looked at him for a while scanning him to see if he’s actually fine or maybe he has gone insane. I knew Felix to be better than this and didn’t expect him to stoop so low.

“Are you okay, Felix? It seems your obsession has made you gone insane,” I told him as I laughed had even when it was nothing funny.

“Judith, I’m very much okay, and this is the truth “he said as he took the paternity test result from me and hit it on the table. “The man you are about to get married to is a monster. He isn’t who you think he is.”

“Felix, how can this paternity test be true?” This man has never even been to Rome before,” I shouted angrily, and I could see people staring at me. I bowed down slightly to apologize for disturbing them.

“Felix, I don’t know you can be this dirty,” I said in a low tone.

“Judith, I know this is difficult to believe, but you seriously have to believe me,” he said with a serious face.

“Why do you think I have to believe you? You who left me all alone, devastated and broken. And now I have a man who is everything I have ever wanted, and you want me to believe this bullshit,” I said as I took the results and hit it on the table.

“He loved me so much and took care of my kids like his.”

“That’s because he probably recognized you and felt pity for you, and the kids. That is because they are his” he retorted.

“I’m getting married soon. I will be happy with my husband and my kids. So, Felix, go back to where you are coming from. Is it Africa or America? Go back there and get yourself, a psychiatric doctor. You need to be placed under vigorous treatment”

He seems to be so unbothered about the insults and he said again, “why would I do something like this if it’s untrue, I can’t be this stupid.”

“How did I ever think of getting married to you? You weren’t the man I loved in the past. The Felix I knew was a good man. It seems you’ve become a shadow of yourself,” I said as I stormed out of the cafe.

“Judith, Judith,” he called after me.

I got outside and decided to walk home since the cafe is in the same estate. He came outside and ran after me.

“Felix, you are embarrassing me. Stop following me,” I warned.

“Judith, you need to believe me and call off the wedding before it’s too late. I don’t want you to regret it,” he said, and I looked back at him giving him a cold stare.

“Why do you care if I regret it or not? I asked, increasing my pace.

“I will leave now. you can run another paternity test secretly, if you don’t believe me. Getting the samples won’t be that hard since you leave together now. Bye for now, I will be back soon.”

He said and walked back to the cafe to get his car and drove off.

He seemed to be serious about it but I find it difficult to believe him for any reason. “Oh goodness, can he be saying the truth?” I thought and I could feel my body fidgeting due to an unknown fear.

“Judith, calm down. Felix is just speaking gibberish,” I comforted myself.

Something within me went back to the first time I saw Nathan at the interview. That time, I thought he looked too familiar, and that I got the job too easily too; the same role in which everyone knew I wasn’t qualified for. I could still remember the shock the receptionist had that day when I told her the role I came for.

“Nothing is certain yet, don’t worry about it too much. A paternity test will reveal everything.” I thought as I walked back home, trying to stay calm….
