Chapter 59 - Defeating the Corrupt Regime
Chapter 59 - Defeating the Corrupt Regime
Arthur opened his eyes the following morning in his luxurious room at the Golden Chamber Hotel and
glanced at the clock on the wall. It was already 5 a.m. His morning routine was familiar to him: he'd
take an energizing cold shower, go for a brisk jog around the city streets, and then start his day.
"Alright," he said calmly, stepping off his bed. He grabbed a glass of water and drank it, savoring the
cool liquid against his parched throat.
With the arrival of spring, the snow had thinned considerably compared to winter, making Arthur's
morning jog much more pleasant and comfortable than usual. He could run for up to an hour without
feeling the biting cold.
Arthur then went into his luxurious bathroom and took a cold shower, the three streams of water
cascading over him in a refreshing wake-up call. He took a deep breath, feeling his cells come alive
with energy.
Having been upgraded to a new body, Arthur found it very difficult to feel fatigued, as he was always
feeling energized despite all the activities he did throughout the day.
In addition to his enhanced physical strength, his high morale also enabled him to take on numerous
tasks and thoughts throughout the day without feeling tired.
Nonetheless, he was still thankful for being able to experience the joy of sleeping and resting at night,
and he eventually adapted to his new body and began to appreciate and feel connected with it.
After surviving the attacks of The Kraken and her army, Arthur then took Alicia to the Golden Chamber
and gave her a luxurious floor in the magnificent hotel, one floor below Edna. He did this to ensure the
girl's safety, believing it to be the best option for the time being, as Arthur himself needed to learn more
about the Underworld and its potential threats.
"The Underworld appears to have a great deal of authority over the city, and it appears that they also
have a strong presence in government," Arthur mused. Determined to create his own influence and
army if need be.
Arthur was intent on establishing his own business. He was determined to face these people and
ensure that those like Estella would not remain in power and exploit their authority for their own
personal gain.
Realizing that this was no small feat, Arthur was nevertheless determined to make it happen. He was
confident that he could make it happen with dedication and perseverance. Furthermore, he had the
support of his partners Edna, Claudina, and Alicia, and he was sure that there would be more help on
the way.
Arthur emerged from the bathroom, having changed into his sports clothes. With haste, he descended
the stairs to the VIP elevator, then made his way out of the back door, his favored exit to avoid the
crowd of people typically gathered at the hotel lobby entrance.
Arthur jogged in shorts, sneakers, and a sleeveless shirt, seemingly unfazed by the cool morning air.
He had her trusty earphones tucked into his ears, allowing him to find his inner peace and formulate his
daily plan.
Every morning, Arthur would jog through the small alleys between buildings and street corners, and he
would often find people sleeping on the streets, barely protected by their thick jackets and cardboard
boxes. Taking a deep breath and exhaling, Arthur was aware of his great wealth, and he realized that
he could easily change someone's life with it. However, he knew that giving these people money would
not be the right solution.
"Giving money to those who don't know how to use it, or even understand its value, would only be a
disadvantage," he thought. "The money would run out quickly, and they might even be exposed to
danger from people who want to take it away from them."
He had been using his money in whatever way he pleased lately, but he still made sure to help those
he gave it to, providing them with resources and the autonomy to make better lives for themselves.
"This isn't my job," he thought to himself. "It's the government's job to improve people's lives. But with a
government as corrupt as this one, it doesn't look like people's conditions will be improving anytime
soon."
Maintaining social levels was vital to those at the top, as it allowed them to maintain their position and
make more and more people suffer beneath them. This further secured their power for a long time.
People from all walks of life, ranging from the destitute living on the streets to the middle class, were
expected to remain in their respective social and economic standing for the foreseeable future. This
was because those in positions of power and influence relied on the patronage of these people to
generate wealth and increase their fortunes.
The ruling class sought to keep the lower classes in a state of weakness, so busy with the struggle to
survive that they could not even contemplate resistance. This oppressive way of life continued, leaving
those at the bottom with no hope of ever improving their station and those at the top with the
opportunity to use their power for further gain.
Arthur inhaled deeply and let out a relieved sigh on that chilly morning. Then, the sun began to peek Owned by NôvelDrama.Org.
out from behind the towering buildings in the city, signifying the start of the day's activities.
"But," he added, having made up his mind. "I can make things better... in my own way."
He paused as he ran closer to the Golden Chamber Hotel.
"I can make things better by weakening The Underworld, or even eradicating them," he declared
emphatically.
Arthur raced back to the hotel and wasted no time taking the VIP elevator to his room, the most
luxurious suite on the top floor of the grand and lavish hotel building.
"I will be a terror for those who have abused their authority for their own gain," he declared with a smile.
When the elevator door opened, he noticed a woman with blonde hair standing there, who smiled and
bowed her head in greeting.
"Good morning, boss.... I have prepared breakfast for you. Would you like me to join you for breakfast
this morning?" Edna said softly, her smile never faltering.
"Yes, Edna. That would be great," Arthur replied in a collected manner.
