The Billionaire’s Pretend Fiancée

An embarrassing ordeal

Sofie’s POV

I sighed as I turned sideways with my hands caressing my belly.

I was gradually gaining weight, and my clothes were starting to get tighter around my waist.

I had changed my clothes thrice that morning and still, I couldn’t find something to fit in.

The funniest thing was that my stomach had not even rounded to the slightest of bumps, but I was rapidly gaining weight.

With a deep exhale, I changed into a pair of joggers and sweatshirt as they were the only clothes that I could comfortably fit into.

Soon, I was on my way to a boutique to get some maternity clothes.

But while I was in the taxi, I caught a glimpse of a beautiful pink sundress through a glass window, and before my brain could process the gorgeousness of the dress, I told the driver to stop and I paid him.

“Welcome, Miss. What would you like to get from us today?” A smily-faced, young woman asked, as I sauntered into the glass building of the boutique.

“That.” I said, pointing to the flowery dress.

She followed my stare to the cloth before nodding. “Very well, ma’am. Would you like to get something else, or will that be all?”

I was about to nod when I saw a gorgeous skirt on the first aisle, so I shook my head. “I’d like to look around a little longer.”

I smiled to myself as I felt the soft, cotton material of the skirt, it was really going to be a nice purchase.

Some days ago, Roman had mentioned how much he wanted to see my legs in skirts, so what time other than that moment was right to get one?

Thinking about Roman made something hard and heavy clog my throat as I realized it had been four days since I last saw him.

He was always out of the mansion before I woke up, and back home very late at night.

It was so obvious that he was avoiding me, but the frustrating thing was that I neither had no idea why he was doing that nor did I know what my offence toward him was.

“I’d like to take this skirt too.” I said to the attendant who nodded before retrieving the skirt from the rack.

“Are you done now, ma?” She asked, to which I shook my head as I grinned sheepishly.

I still hadn’t shopped for maternity clothes.

“Well, well, well. Look who is here.” I heard an eerily-familiar, taunting voice drift into my ears as I was about to stroll toward the maternity aisle.

That screechy and extremely irritating voice could only belong to the most annoying bitch in the world.

Lana.

I darted her a mocking smile as I spun around to face her. “If it isn’t the one and only classless Lana.”

Her face instantly became devoid of color as she glared at me, if there was something I found funny about Lana, it was the fact that she always wore her emotions on her sleeve.

The fact that she was so easy to mock and unnerve always gave me some sort of wicked thrill.

“You fucking bitch, you better mind the way you speak to me.” She spat, menacingly advancing toward me with a raised hand.Content bel0ngs to Nôvel(D)r/a/ma.Org.

I just laughed as I moved closer to her, to show her that I wasn’t in the slightest bit scared of her.

“And if I don’t, what can you do? You are all words and no action, coward Lana. You are all bark and no bite.” I sneered in her face.

She was about to utter a retort when a tall, skinny woman with long, blonde hair walked into the aisle and asked. “What’s going on, Lana? I thought you liked the purse.”

When Lana didn’t say anything, the woman darted me a dirty glare. “Who is this?”

“She’s the bitch I told you about. The golddigging whore who has Roman wrapped around her fingers.” Lana scoffed as she looked over to the woman.

“Oh. So this is it?” She made a nasty gesture with her hand at me. “Roman’s standards are below the ground at this point because why would he choose such a plain-looking woman like this?”

Their words were gradually starting to get on my nerves, but I was determined to keep my cool, so I just smiled at Lana’s bitchy friend. “Sweetie, Roman’s standards fell through the ground the moment he started dating your friend.”

“What did you just say, you slut?” Lana yelled before lunging herself at me and pulling me by my hair.

I felt immense anger and pain at that moment, as her friend pulled out her phone and started recording while laughing.

“You heard me right or have you gone deaf now?” I screamed as I also pulled her by hair, eliciting a startled screech from her.

“Let go of me right now before I lose it.” She shouted, and I just snorted as I tightened my grip on her hair.

“You started it first, so let me go, Lana!” I yelled back.

“Oh my goodness, what is happening here?” I heard the shop attendant wail, I didn’t even notice her walking in.

Out of shame, I decided to let Lana go but apparently, Lana had other plans as she suddenly pulled me tighter by my hair. “You stupid lowlife, I will kill you today!”

“Let go, Lana.” I screamed, as I felt my scalp burn with immeasurable agony.

“Roman’s standards were through the floor when he began dating me, huh?” Lana fumed, “I’ll show you your place today. I’ll make sure you leave here bald and without your dignity.”

“She has no dignity, babe. Have you forgotten?” Lana’s friend chirped in.

“Please stop this, madam. The police are already on their way.” The attendant pleaded but all her words fell on deaf years as Lana continued assaulting my hair.

“And what the hell is going on here?” I heard the unmistakable raspy baritone of Roman’s voice and instantly, Lana freed me.

How did he even know I was there?

I turned to gaze at him, but he had a murderous glare fixated on Lana, “It’s not what you think. I can explain.”

“Good. Lana, you should start explaining and your explanation better sound believable at least to my ears because I know how much of an expert you are at making things up.” He gritted out which caused my jaw to slack in a mixture of confusion and shock.

Although, he was talking to Lana, I couldn’t help but feel slightly scared.
