Chapter 559
Chapter 559
“Look, it wasn’t her fault, okay? Blame me, it’s all on me… If you must lash out at someone, let it be me, but leave my daughter out of this. Allison’s done nothing wrong,” Grace pleaded with a sense of urgency, desperate to shield her daughter from the barrage of accusations. In her heart, there was only Allison, and the overwhelming desire to protect her.
But what Grace didn’t realize was that she had stumbled right into Penelope’s carefully laid trap.
The media wasn’t there to help her. Instead, they were pushing Allison further into a corner, from which there seemed to be no escape.
Sophie pounced on the opportunity. “Ma’am, you just said it’s all your fault, and your girl is innocent. Is there something we’re not seeing here?”
“It’s because of me, all because of me,” Grace stammered. The tears were staining her cheeks. “I’ve been sick. I needed a kidney transplant. Allison, she did what she had to because of my illness. It’s my health that’s dragged her down. If you’re gonna blame anyone, blame me, not my daughter!”
The video feed showed Grace. Her eyes were brimming with tears. She was dressed simply, speaking up for her daughter. NôvelDrama.Org holds © this.
A mother was pleading for mercy on behalf of her child.
Without any edits, Sophie immediately uploaded the original footage to the Internet. Once posted, it went viral, shared by tens of thousands. It rocketed up the trending charts.
Allison sat in the car, which was parked clandestinely behind a side entrance of Epic Entertainment. She hoped to avoid the press, but the reporters had been lying in wait. As soon as she stepped out, they swarmed her.
Microphones were thrust forward, and the questions came rapid-fire.
“Allison, it’s been 36 hours since the scandal broke and you’ve been silent. Does that mean you’re admitting to it?”
“Allison, do you have anything to say?”
Paige hadn’t expected reporters at the back entrance either. She, along with the bodyguards, quickly formed a barrier around Allison and pushed through toward the building.
Allison, behind her shades, ignored the surrounding chaos and pressed on.
Then a voice cut through.
“Allison, we saw your mother, Ms. Grace, at the main entrance. You’re carrying a handbag worth thousands, while she’s in an outfit that’s barely a hundred bucks. Are you mistreating your after being famous?” |
“Yeah, your mother mentioned her illness. Are you ashamed of her sickness? Did you abandoned your mother, leaving her to wait outside Epic Entertainment in desperation?”
The reporters, like a swarm of relentless flies, had the back alley blocked off.
The bodyguards continued to escort Allison forward. Since the incident, she had remained silent. Her studio and Twitter account was quiet. She knew that without concrete evidence, idle talk wouldn’t sway public opinion. Patty had warned her against engaging with the media. They were spiteful, so it was best not to provoke them if possible.
But at that moment, Allison stopped. “You went after my mother?” she asked. Her tone was icy as she faced the media.
Sophie felt a chill despite Allison’s sunglasses hiding her eyes. She felt somewhat guilty but managed to say, “I just happened to see a middle-aged lady at the entrance and learned she is your mother. You let her wait outside all morning without even a sip of water. That’s just heartless!”
“Your mother has already confirmed that you’re the woman in the photos. What do you` have to say to that?”
