The plan
Kim
“His name is Johnny,” I said, using my free hand to get my favorite black heels off the rack on to the floor. “Make sure you don’t kill him. Just rough him up a little so he won’t be able to work for about two weeks. That’s all the time I need to turn my life around.”
“Okay,” Mane said and I hang up. I placed my phone inside my hand bag, picked up the bag from the bed then stepped out. Before closing the door, I took one look at my tiny single roomed apartment. Soon, I wouldn’t be living in these horrible conditions anymore. When I finally had Maya’s job, things would change.
I’d finally be able to afford a decent apartment. I was tired of living like a peasant. Although the salary I started getting from Milner Insurance was making my life easier than it had been before, it was nowhere near enough to give me the life I wanted. On the other hand, Maya’s salary was huge and I needed that. If I started earning that much, my life would be super amazing and I would be able to get all the things I wanted.
Maya was already in her office when I arrived. She was wearing a black dress and red shoes. It was like she had nothing to do other than work. I remembered that she didn’t have a life, neither did she have a man. At her age, you either had love or career. I almost felt bad that I was planning to ruin the one things she had. Imagine a jobless and man-less Maya Bennett.
She was talking on the phone so I raised my palm in greeting, putting on my sweetest smile. She smiled back while talking. There was a to-do list written on a sticky note on the table. I picked up the note, read the instructions and headed to my workstation, a tiny room outside Maya’s inner office. They were so few and I thought she was giving me less work deliberately. I knew she didn’t trust me yet but that was okay. I didn’t care if she trusted me or not. I wanted the CEO to trust me. I hope they hadn’t called a temp because then step one of my plan would’ve failed.
I was still checking and replying to some emails when the office messenger barged in. That job was so horrible no one respected you. I was pretty sure he’d have knocked if I was with Maya.
“Good morning, Miss Dalton.” He said. “Will you please come with me?”
“Why?” I frowned, looking up at the short man. I had not been very sure that my plan would work but it appeared that things had gone pretty well. That was if I wasn’t mistaken about what he was there for.
“Mr. Carrington’s assistant was in an accident and couldn’t make it to work today. We need you to fill in for him until he comes back. Don’t worry, I have permission from Miss Bennett to go with you.”
“What happened to the assistant?” I asked, acting concerned.
“Someone tried to run him over but he survived with minor injuries,” he said. “He went to get checked out at the hospital but he’ll be back tomorrow. Or the next day. It all depends on the medical diagnosis. You can never know with these things.”
I couldn’t believe Mane wasn’t able to get him hospitalized. He had never disappointed me before but I had to accept it. I have one day to make the CEO like me, or at least get interested. I had so much to offer him, and there was so much I needed from him. If I got him whipped, he would give me a promotion, which was I desperately needed. All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.
“That’s really sad,” I said, putting my phone back in the bag. “Okay, let’s go. We wouldn’t want to keep Mr. Carrington waiting.”
I didn’t bother to inform Maya that I had gone. To be honest, I didn’t care what she thought about me anymore. I couldn’t wait to turn her world upside down. She was going to regret asking for an assistant, if she hadn’t already.
The new Chief Executive Officer was the sexiest man I had ever seen. He was so handsome and radiated power. Power was the most attractive thing a man could have. Just looking at him made me want to beg him to bend me over and take me right there and then. He was nothing like my former boss, who was an old man of sixty years. Working under him had been really frustrating. Getting this job seemed to be the best thing I had ever done.
“Good morning, miss…” He said.
“Dalton,” I said, with the sweetest smile I could muster. Unlike with Maya, this smile was genuine. “I’ve heard about your assistant. I’m so sorry. I hope I’ll be able to fit in his shoes.”
He looked into my eyes and smiled. “I’m sure you will fit in them better than he does. It’s nice to have someone different around.”
Maybe I was too quick to judge but he seemed like the kind of man who thought they could have anything because of their money. I could tell he’d be willing to give me a lot of things if I slept with him. I knew my capabilities and was sure that one night with that man would be enough to get him running after me.
“Thank you for trusting me,” I said, not smiling this time. I didn’t want him to think I was one of those girls who’d go to bed with him because he was rich. I wanted him to think I was a good girl but I realized it was too late.
The lipstick I was wearing was too strong and my clothes were too tight. I realized how stupid I could be. I should’ve given more thought to the plan. I should have dressed plainly like Maya. Now, it was too late. I could only hope that he was not judgmental.
