Chapter 372 Bullets In The Air
Chapter 372 Bullets In The Air
A man who was smoking leisurely dropped his cigarette in a hurry. Nonchalant that the lit cigarette
dropped on his knee, he frantically shouted at others,"Hey, come on!
Guys, stop her!"
Rachel who was trying to escape had opened one door. As she was about to go out, she felt that
someone grabbed her clothes and was trying to pull her back in. She gathered all her strength and
pulled harder to free herself. Fortunately, she thought of releasing her coat, got away and ran out of the
door.
'Where... where am I?'
Rachel was confused after she got out.
There was a run-down cabinet blocking her way.
However, Rachel found a back alley at her left.
It was already in the dead of night and the alley was pitch-black. Although she got out of the door,
Rachel had no idea where to go.
"Hey! Miss, stop! You can't go in there!" the same man in a cap who chased Rachel out shouted at her.
Having no time to hesitate, Rachel chose a direction and bolted hastily. However, she felt something
was wrong.
She wondered why the men chasing her stopped when she ran into the alley?
Rachel felt more creepy, stopped running and just walked forward. 'It doesn't seem normal.
Patrick suggested Hiram gambling with their lives. If there's an ongoing fight, there should be noises,
but it's too quiet in here.
Did they go somewhere else?'
Rachel thought. At the same time, she felt something fast passed near her ears.
Subconsciously, she touched her ear then a few strands of short hair dropped on her hand.
She suddenly understood why the men who were chasing her didn't dare to follow her to the alley.
"Hiram…
Patrick, where... where are you two?"
Rachel called with an elevated heart rate. She wondered where they were...
and what was the thing that flew fast beside her?
Rachel decided not to move.
At that time, there was no moon in the sky, nor a single person and not even a trace of light.
Although she stood at the center of the alley, Rachel never felt so exposed to the heat.
"Hello... anyone there?" Rachel asked again. It was cloudy during the daytime and the weather became
colder at night. However, her body was hot and sweaty.
Suddenly, Rachel heard the sound of movements from both sides of the alley.
It seemed to be getting closer to her.
Abruptly, a hand from her left grabbed and pulled her which caused her to narrowly avoid another flying
thing.
Rachel couldn't figure out who it was because of the stark darkness.
"Patrick, don't touch her!" That was a sound from Rachel's right side. Then, the owner of the sound
grabbed and pulled her hand into his direction.
"Hiram, is that you?" Rachel inquired in a relieved tone and followed Hiram. But, Patrick had no
intention to release her left hand.
As he heard the dangerous sound, Hiram mustered all his strength to pull Rachel over to him, but
failed. Instead, he suddenly shoved Rachel to her left and stepped back.
At the same time, something passed rapidly between them.
Pushed by Hiram to the left, Rachel jostled with Patrick. "What just happened? What was that in the
air?" Rachel nervously queried.
Patrick heaved her over to the wall. "That was a bullet, stay here and don't move!"
"What? What bullet?" Rachel said incredulously. 'Why are there bullets aimed at us? Is this the 'bet on
lives' thingy that Patrick suggested?' Rachel thought to herself.
Rachel's eyes were adjusted to the darkness, and she could vaguely judge the position of Hiram and
Patrick. Hiram leaned against the opposite wall.
"Sweetie, are you okay?" Hiram inquired worriedly and in a soft tone.
Rachel answered,"I'm fine, Hiram. Were you hit?"
"No. Just stand still and wait for the opportunity to get out," Hiram said to Rachel, and then
reprimanded Patrick in a low voice,"Patrick, could you fucking stop staring at my wife?!" Content rights by NôvelDr//ama.Org.
Patrick snorted disdainfully. His eyes were also adjusted to the darkness so he could see Rachel's
figure clearly.
"Hiram, don't be stupid... Even if she is already your wife, she still deserves the appreciation of others.
Can you control everyone's eyes?"
Hiram quickly moved to the left and stood beside Rachel and then said,"You are different!"
Rachel sighed deeply when she heard the conversation between the two. 'Is it really the time to talk
about this? Numerous bullets are shuttling in the air and all they talk about is such a ridiculous thing, '
she thought.
"What on earth... is happening? Why are there bullets hurtling towards us?" Rachel asked anxiously.
"You should ask Patrick. That son of a bitch set automatic M16 rifles at both ends of the alley. Both
guns will fire bullets in a random direction every five seconds," Hiram rebuked Patrick in a low voice.
Wearing a mask, Patrick said disapprovingly,"I told you we would bet on our lives. Only one of us
should survive tonight."
Rachel looked at Patrick on the left. She was too angry to speak a word. She glanced at a bullet which
shuttled in front of her, Rachel felt her heart had stopped beating.
"Patrick, are you crazy? Stop those rifles right now!" Rachel growled at Patrick.
"It's no use. The rifles were specially set, and they will only stop after all bullets have been shot,"
Patrick said, and then he suddenly shouted at Rachel,"Duck!"
Rachel subconsciously listened to the command and felt one bullet shuttled over her head.
"Patrick, stop being foolish, okay? Hiram is my husband. I will be a widow if he's killed. Is that how you
show your affection to me?" Rachel's heart was beating fast. It was like she just brushed past death.
However, Patrick seemed to be unaffected. He laughed and gave a glance at Hiram.
"It's better if he dies. You won't be a widow because I will marry you, and I will treat his son and
daughter like mine."
Hearing this, Hiram punched at Patrick with his deadly hand. "Keep dreaming! She is my wife. She
would never be yours!"
Patrick slightly stepped aside and avoided Hiram's attack and then smiled wickedly. "Really Hiram?
Let's see who will get out of here alive."
Rachel was too scared to close her eyes. She thought to herself, 'They still have the guts to fight with
each other.'
"Stop! Stop fighting, please!. Just stop it," Rachel screamed as she gazed at the men fighting.
Together, Hiram and Patrick stared back at Rachel and in panic shouted in one voice...
"Rachel, stay down!"
At the same time, a bullet could be seen flying in the direction of Rachel.
