Millie was going to her car in the parking lot when a black Maybach suddenly stopped in front of her. The car window rolled down; it was Winston.
“Millie, get in the car,” he said calmly, although his tone was intense.
She declined. “I’m going back.”
If Joanna found out that he sent her home, she would definitely cause a scene again.
“Get in the car,” repeated Winston, his tone growing more serious.
Millie frowned. “What’s the matter?”
“Can’t I just meet you? Didn’t you used to enjoy being with me?” Winston grew impatient over time.
She smiled. “Mr. Greer, if you don’t have anything to tell me, there’s no need for you to come to me. Time is precious for everyone, and our identities have changed. Let’s not compare ourselves to the past.”
Winston was rendered speechless. Undoubtedly, things had changed significantly.
Millie’s phone rang abruptly. It was the reminder she had set for her divorce appointment tomorrow.
She turned her phone screen to Winston and smiled. “Mr. Greer, see you at the courthouse at 8:00 am tomorrow.”
The one–month cooling–off period had ended, and they could finally obtain their divorce certificate.
Winston held the steering wheel tightly as he looked at Millie intensely. Then, he unbuckled his seat belt and stepped out of the car.
Millie watched him approach her. He then opened the car door and pushed her inside. The door slammed shut, leaving Millie in shock as she watched him get into the car.
He frowned and glanced at Millie, saying seriously, “Nothing important, just casual conversation.”
“What do you want to discuss?”
“Aspher,” he replied and started driving.
Millie was surprised. If it involved the Aspher, she was more than willing to discuss it. The car moved slowly. She didn’t ask about their destination, nor did he mention it.
Millie used her phone and glanced out the window occasionally. She also listened to voice messages from Marvin and Simon. Simon thanked her and said he would treat her to a meal another day.
Every time Millie listened to the voice messages, Winston would gaze at her. Since leaving him, she had become better in many ways.
She was more generous, confident, and no longer clingy. She now had an indescribable beauty and straightforwardness.
Winston pondered deeply, his grip on the steering wheel growing tighter. He understood that he was the one holding Millie back, and she was hurt because of her love for him.
He was visibly upset. The car made its way to an isolated location, where he brought it to a stop. After unfastening his seat belt, he stepped out of the car.
Millie watched as he leaned against the car, searching through his pockets. She noticed that Winston was in a bad mood and stepped out of the car as well.
The weather in Yerwick was getting colder in October. Millieeeling chilly in her thin dress because
of the breeze.
She stood beside Winston, crossed her arms, and looked into the distance, following his gaze. She could see a newly built viaduct. It was very high and had few cars on it. Looking out, she could see a beautiful night view.
Millie’s hair danced in the breeze as she brushed it aside. Suddenly, Winston said, “I’ll be there on time tomorrow.”
Millie hummed in response. Then, she aimlessly stepped on the ground. Suddenly, the sound of a lighter a cigarette.
reached her ears. Her gaze lifted, only to find Winston lighting Original from NôvelDrama.Org.
He took a slow drag and pulled the cigarette away, his eyes appearing tired. Millie felt a strange tension in the air and frowned. She wanted to say something but hesitated.
