Chapter 701
The part he mentioned about starting anew wasn't wrong. However, it was quite amusing for him to call Chris a "scumbag." But about the "better men," who was Winston referring to? His eyes were huge and bulging when I glanced at him. I wondered if he possibly meant himself. But thinking about it, I figured that it wasn't likely since he wasn't that close to Chris.
Winston was my junior, Zara was my childhood friend, and Chris was the irrelevant one. I just found out that Chris was a scumbag a few days ago, but Winston could just describe him accurately. How did he know Chris was a scumbag?
Moreover, he seemed to be quite angry. I also sensed another different emotion in him, but I couldn't put my finger on it.
This was about Zara's breakup. It had nothing to do with him. Why was he getting emotional about it?
"Are you nuts?" Why did he send the message on my behalf without permission?
"It's not me but you girls who are nuts. Why are you idolizing trash like him? Hmph!" With a cold snort, he turned his head away and crossed his arms. Then, he went back to sleep.
I was speechless.
What was going on? I was chatting with my bestie. He didn't just spy on our conversation, but he also acted on his own to send that message. As if that wasn't bad enough, he even had the nerve to call us nuts. Who gave him the audacity?
So what if we were nuts? It had nothing to do with him. Was he just bored?
I felt like grabbing his ear and asking him what he was up to, but with others on the bus quietly minding their own business, I didn't want to cause any disturbances. I could only swallow my anger and deal with him later when we got off.
After chatting with Zara for a while, I told her to rest as I could sense how tired she was from her responses.
After more than an hour, most of the people on the bus had fallen asleep. I was about to doze off too when I suddenly realized two things. First Winston seemed overly concerned about Zara's matter. Second, didn't see Xavier even though the professor mentioned that he would be tagging along.
Could it be that he was driving there on his own? I craned my neck to look behind the bus, but all I saw was the endless highway. There was no car following the bus.
I immediately felt relieved. Xavier didn't come along, after all. Professor King was just messing with Colin. That old man was just like a mischievous kid.
When we arrived at our destination, everyone woke up feeling refreshed.
We got off the bus, taking in the different climate in Denville compared to Jinovy while breathing in the fresh air. Everyone just felt incredibly comfortable after taking a few deep breaths.
But I had no intention of appreciating the fresh air. I wanted to grab Winston as soon as I got off the bus. I wanted him to give me an explanation for the questions that had been bothering me all the way.
However, it seemed as if Winston had learned of my intentions because he'd gotten off the bus with his bag long before I did and disappeared somewhere.Content from NôvelDr(a)ma.Org.
I was about to chase after him when the professor grabbed me. "A tutor should behave like a tutor. It's not good to fool around with the students."
"I didn't, I was..." I struggled desperately, but the professor was too strong.
His expression darkened as he asked, "Have you forgotten what Colin told you? Behave yourself."
But what did I do? Why did he tell me to "behave myself"?
I really did have something to do. I wasn't playing around, and what did it have to do with being a tutor? How was a tutor supposed to behave? Should I be as stiff as a log?
