Rose’s POV

04:51

“That place was amazing today! I wish I could live there permanently and just eat everything they have!” Lydia giggled, as we both flopped on to her bed with a sigh

“It was really great! I’ll ask if we can go back there again next week!” I state, remembering back to how amazing the caramel iced coffee had been which was my first time ever trying anything like it,

I had never had coffee, but I one million percent approved of it! I even asked Ashton for a second but he said it might be too much caffeine for my first time…

“How do you feel about tomorrow Lydia? I suddenly question, pushing myself up on to my elbows growing curious at how she truly felt about Nathan and his family being punished for their crimes in–front of the whole pack.

“Well… I sort of feel bad for his Mom… although I know that she tried to stab the Alpha like some crazy bitch! But I don’t think she deserves to die, you know?” Lydia sits up too, bringing her knees up to her chest as she opens up mare about the topic.

“Yeah I can understand that! She was probably just trying to protect her son and nephews I guess? But did she even know the true extent of what they done to you?” I then ask, believing that perhaps she was told another narrative from Nathan and that explains her protective stance?

Maybe the woman actually doesn’t know the extent of what they done and need to be told?

Lydia sighed, her gaze fixed on the floor as she contemplated the situation. I don’t know, Rose. I mean, she had to know that Nathan was a bad guy. He was abusive, controlling, and manipulative – even over his own cousins ton sometimes, But maybe she was in denial or chose to believe his lies. Or maybe she thought they were just up to some mischief and didn’t realize the full extent of their crimes.” She shrugs.

I nodded in understanding. It was a complex situation to say the least, and even though Lydia had every right to feel anger and resentment towards them, her compassion was still striking her in to forgiveness

It’s generous of you to even consider her perspective at all. Regardless though, justice must be served after what you’ve gone through, and if the Alpha’s pack determines that they should face punishment, then so be it‘

Lydia glanced at me, her eyes filled with curiosity. “What do you think about it, Rose? You and Ashton seem to know a lot about handling these sorts of things in your roles. Is it right for them to be judged and punished even by death by the Alpha and his pack?” Lydia ponders, as my eyes widen,

“Oh I am really the worst person to ask! I seriously don’t know how most things around here work let alone punishments and the packs justice system……. but all I can say, is that Ashton will know how to handle things properly.” I tell her, my words firm and full of promise.

I couldn’t help but think about the horrors Lydia had endured because of Nathan and his cousins.

“I definitely think they should be held accountable for their actions. Their crimes were unforgivable, and they must face the consequences for ruining so much precious time in your life. The Alpha’s pack will ensure a fair trial, but justice needs to be served for the safety of everyone either way.“L conclude, as Lydia agrees.

With that, we both fell into a thoughtful silence, contemplating the events of the past few days and the trials that awaited the perpetrators tomorrow…

I don’t miss him t

that’s for sure!” Lydia suddenly blurts out with a dark humoured laugh causing me to join her in my surprise.

Id

Good I’m glad! Or that would be a different problem all together!” I laugh out next, lightening the mood with our morbid jokes.

Throughout the hilarity, a heavy knock is sounded against the bedroom door gaining our attention as we eye it curiously.

“Come in!” I yell out to whoever it may be, however nobody does, which causes me to tilt my head.

I wait à further moment, before getting up and trekking myself towards the door with a groun- as Lydia giggles at my misery of having to move from my comly seat on the bed.

I turn the handle, open the door, and find nobody… before my eyes trail down and land on the largest bouquet of flowers i think I had EYTT SECnt

“On! What are these??” I exclaim, bending down to collect the heavy display before turning and bringing them in to the room to examine further.

“Lydia! Somebody sent these for your I suddenly squeal in excitement, noticing the name written un o may

“W–What?! I thought that the Alpha sent them for you!” Lydia stammers, taking the card in to her hands – her eyes wide.

“No silly! Why would Ashton deliver my flowers to your room!” 1 giggle, before pulling her to sit down ushering for her to open the note.

“B–But who? And why? I don’t understand any of this!” Lydia babbles, as I grin like the Cheshire Cat having my suspicions.

“Open it!” I demand, growing impatient, as she laughs slightly and peels up the seal of the envelope.

She takes out the card with great care, before opening it to find a handwritten card….

“How would you feel about accompanying me to the Alpha hall on Friday? I know that it might be too soon to consider a date with everything that’s going on, but I enjoy your company and hope you feel the same way… Hunt x Lydia reads the note aloud, as my heart rate quickens with sheer excitement. This content belongs to Nô/velDra/ma.Org .

Awwww! That is actually adorable!” I squeal, causing Lydia’s face to flush a bright shade of red.

“I- but I… I can’t go to that!” Lydia detests, as I gasp at her statement.

“WHY NOT? 1 yell, as though she was being

Completely absurd with the idea

“It’s too… high class for the likes of me! Why would Hunt want me as a date anyway?! He probably feels sorry for me!” Lydia rambles her thoughts aloud, as my eyes practically turn to saucers at her insecurities

“Stop it! I literally seen you two at dinner last night! He likes you no questions asked! He was flirting with you the whole damn time Lydia! He wants you as his date because you are drop dead gorgeous and genuine!” I fold my arms, speaking my words firmly in hopes that she would take it in

“No it must be a mistaker Lydia groans, pouting her lip out as she looks between myself, the card and the bouquet,

“It’s not a mistake! You can’t turn the poor guy down after he sent those stunning flowers! Besides, it means you get to spend the weekend with me and I won’t be so lonely and terrified deadpan, causing Lydia’s lips to tilt up into a smile.

Yeah I guess…” Her mind begins to shift, as I grin again in excitement.

“You’ll also ge

get to dress up and look fabulous!” I push on, as she giggles and nods in thought.

“Ashton said we are going by train too… that will be so much fun together!” I clap loudly and begin to jump up and down a little as she laughs. “Worst part is, I’ll have to see my ex–mate again… the one who rejected me seconds after meeting me… but if you’re there, I’ll get through it!” I raise a brow, as she giggles and shakes her head.

“Ok, Ok, I’ll come! Count me in!” Lydia laughs out, causing me to cheer loudly in victory.

My friend was now invited on my next adventure with me! Could this day get any better?!

-Should we go find him? Let him know you want to come? He might need to make arrangements.” I think on the idea, as Lydia listens.

“Maybe I should…” Lydia trails off, as I nod and stand–holding my hand out for hers to pull her up with me.

With Lydia’s heart still racing from accepting Hunts invitation to the Alpha ball, she and I embarked on a thrilling new quest to find Hunt, Sawyer, and Ashton within the sprawling and large house.

We left the room, going to the usual spots where they might be first, but find no luck there. Our footsteps echoed throughout the grand hallways as we eagerly pushed open random doors to explore room after room next… in hopes of them all appearing randomly.

*1 mean…….. I could just mind–link Ashton… but this way seems na

more fun!” | state, causing Lydia to laugh loudly at my admission

“I agree!” she giggles, as we both continue on our search.

The house, with its rich history and elegant design, was a place where you could easily lose yourself… quite literally!

Suddenly, a melody of voices and laughter wafted through the air, causing us both to freeze in our tracks – turning to one another in victory.

The source was coming from the games room up ahead. As we drew closer, Lydia’s excitement mingled with a fresh wave of anxiety–hearing the 04:45 men bicker about the rules of a silly game.

We reached the door and just as I was about to push it open – Lydia’s hand shot up to grip my forearm – stopping me from proceeding any Further

We paused at the door of the games room, hearts pounding in unison, as she shot me a nervous glance. The lively chatter from within only served to heighten Lydia’s shyness, as she blinked profusely and struggled to find her words.

Her palm grew moist with nervousness on my arm which she very much still had a tight grip of, and I could sense her trepidation…

“Lydia, you’ve got this, it’s ok!” I whispered, placing a supportive hand on her shoulder. “Hunt will be thrilled to see you and know that you want to go with him. Don’t be shy, Lencouraged, as she shook her head a little.

Lydia’s anxiety had a mind of its own, and she couldn’t bring herself to enter the room at all

no matter how much I tried to comfort her.

Her eyes darted from the door to me, and she shook her head again, her voice coming out as a tremor. 1… I can’t, Rose. I’m… I’m too nervous. I felt fine until we actually found h–him!” Lydia admits, as my heart cracks a little for her.

Do you still want to accept the invite? ? You don’t have to Lydia… he will understand and so that maybe Lydia was more nervous about the actual event than anything else.

honest!” I try a new approach, suddenly concerned

“N–No! No I want to go! It’s not that… I’m just nervous I guess! Can you maybe please go in and talk to Hunt for me? I’ll wait here.” Lydia suggests, moving from foot to foot in nervousness,

With a reassuring smile, I gave her a nod. “Of course I can. I’ll go in for you. Don’t worry, we’ll make this work. I can maybe bring him out here away from the others?” I suggest, as Lydia nods, releasing me from her hold and watching as I gently push open the door and step inside – leaving her alone in the hallway

The games room was filled with laughter, and I spotted Hunt, Sawyer, and Ashton engrossed in a friendly game of pool straight away. Their laughter echoed through the room, but I walked towards them with a determined stride – Ashton noticing me first.

“Hunt,” I called out, drawing all of their attention. “I need to talk to you outside for a moment if you don’t mind?” I state politely, as Hunt eyes me warily before turning to glance at Ashton who shrugs,

“I’m guessing this is about Lydia and the hall?‘ I hear Ashtons voice suddenly fill my thoughts – as he mind–links me to figure out what exactly I was up

  1. to.

I look to him and nod once, which he nods back in understanding, before Hunt slowly places his pool cue to the side

Hunt turned away from the pool table, his eyes curious as he met my gaze. “Sure, Rose. Is everything okay?” He forces the words, his gruffness attempting to be as polite as possible.

“Everything is great… you’ll understand soon!” I encourage, as he sighs and follows me back towards the door.

1 push it open, stepping aside in order for him to step o

-out first, before hearing his surprised tone fill the air-

“Lydia?” He questions, meeting her gaze as soon as we step out in to the hallway.

“Uhh… h–hey?” Lydia’s voice comes as more of a question, as I stand aside a little to give them some space.

“What’s wrong?” Hunt pushes next, his tone noticeably more softer than his usual stiff demeanour.

“…. just wanted to say uhh… thank you for the flowers… Lydia’s voice seems to grow quieter as she speaks, her nerves shining through

“Oh that? Yeah sure. So what do you think then?” Hunt’s confident tone shoots back, as he squares himself up – seeming to prepare for the worst.

Lydia falls silent for what feels like forever; as I almost nearly scream for her to answer the poor man as opposed to putting him through this suffering….

“I’ll go with you.” Lydia eventually smiles, confirming her acceptance of the invite, as my heart swoons….

She did it
