Chapter 18
Jenny’s face was filled with disbelief. This content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.
Jackson… wanted to see Serenity?
As a member of the Hall family, Jenny naturally understood that Jackson might not have been particularly interested in her sister. Choosing her sister as his fiancee was simply because she was suitable to become the mistress of the Valor family.
At Mira’s funeral, Jackson had only had indifference on his face, as if the life of Jenny’s sister was insignificant to him. Sometimes, she couldn’t help but wonder what could actually stir the man’s emotions…
And now,
she saw it.
There were lines of faint anger on his beautiful face, something she had never witnessed before.
And it was because of… Serenity?! The woman who was as insignificant as an ant?!
She turned to look at Zeke and saw the same disbelief reflected in his eyes.
Connor, who was standing beside Jackson, quickly responded, “Understood, Mr. Valor.”
Was Jackson ángry?
Connor shivered slightly at the thought. Anyone who had witnessed Jackson getting angry would never want to see it again in their lifetime.
But suddenly, Jackson spoke again, “Forget it. Go and deal with the matter downstairs. It’s too noisy!”
Conner nodded and left in a hurry.
Caught between a daze and the feeling of suffocation, Serenity vaguely thought she had heard Jack’s voice…
But he was always calm, and she had never heard him angry before.
‘Jack… Jack…!‘
The cold yet angelic face flashed in her mind.
If she really died here, would Jack be sad for her?
Just as Serenity felt that she was about to pass out from the lack of air, the pressure around her neck suddenly loosened, and she collapsed to the ground, gasping for breath as she greedily gulped in the fresh air.
At the same time, two security guards restrained William. The man was in a sorry state, pressed down on the ground. More security guards quickly filed into the area.
When Jackson had spoken earlier, William hadn’t taken it seriously, nor did he expect the man that
had just spoken to be Jackson, who had extraordinary influence in Solaria City.
A senior manager of the club hurriedly approached them.
“Mr. Wallace, what are you doing?! Get them to release me this instant!” William yelled.
His family also held shares in the club, which made him one of the bosses here, and that was the reason he could act so arrogantly.
However, Mr. Wallace didn’t spare William a glance. He simply walked up to Serenity and respectfully said, “Miss, you may leave now.”
Everyone was dumbfounded when they heard that, especially William.
“Mr. Wallace, what are you saying? She’s just a sanitation worker. I didn’t allow her to leave! Who
does she think she is-‘
“This is Mr. Valor’s order. He doesn’t like to be disturbed,” Mr. Wallace explained.
The mention of Jackson made William tremble violently.
In Solaria City, the name could only be one person… Jackson Valor!
Was the person who had called out a reprimand previously… Mr. Valor?!
“W–what? Mr. Valor? Why would he stand up for this woman?! S–she was the one responsible for the
accident that killed his fiancee!” William shouted in disbelief.
There was no way he would believe that had happened!
However, there was no hint of joking on Mr. Wallace’s face.
Even Serenity was taken aback from where she stood behind them.
The person who had saved her… was Jackson?!
What incredible irony!
Serenity straightened her clothes and stood up before hastily leaving. She didn’t notice the pair of
eyes on the second floor watching her intently.
Jackson stared at Serenity’s disheveled figure as she hurried away.
She was merely a pawn in his game, so why… did he feel uncomfortable when he saw how she was being treated?
Was it because… even as a pawn, he couldn’t allow others to mess with her? Even if he wanted her to
be tormented…
Only he was allowed to do it, and no one else!
After a moment, he turned and left.
Meanwhile, Zeke, who was standing not far away, looked at Serenity’s retreating figure and pondered silently.
Next to him, Jenny bit her lip with hate–filled eyes.
Serenity had gotten off too lightly! Couldn’t that idiot, William, have kept it down?
Why did he cause a big enough ruckus to disturb Jackson?!
