She was perplexed age was just angry, he was furious. It took a lot to see him like that and in that state, he could do a lot of sped things
Okay Okay. What is going on? She blinked rapidly
He hunched over her table. What is going on is the fact that your little boyfriend is trying to mess with my project. I don't care if you know er not. Just tell him to stay out of my business! I don't mind going to jail for him. Sylvie!" His eyes
She gulped hand as he left. She was sure he d have slammed the door if it hadn't been designed in a way that he couldn't.
She didn't exactly know what was going on, but she knew things were about to get messy.
She reached for her phone and called Westley's line, but he didn't pick up. She called severally, but there was no answer. She dropped him a text. Hi. I need to speak to you. Call me back as soon as you get this. She didn't get to see Kage again until the close of work. Even Westley didn't get back to her.
She drove home, tired from the day's stress. Reaching her apartment, she was searching for her key in her bag when she spotted something on her doorstep.
Her brows furrowed as she went closer. It was an envelope. Was it meant for her?
She looked around, but there was no one in sight. Hesitantly, she picked up the envelope, opened it and brought out a small note she found in it. Her eyes widened in shock as she read it,
"Get rid of that cursed baby in your womb. If you don't, I'll make you die with it."
She gasped, dropping the note and envelope frantically.
Her hand on her mouth, she looked around, her heart beating faster than it was supposed to. What in God's name...?
Her hands were shaking. Someone knew about the pregnancy! But how!? How did it happen!!
Sylvie couldn't go into the house. She had gotten back to her car and had driven for a long time until she was calm enough to think. She stopped in a park. feeling safer with the numerous people gathered around. Exdeeply, she rested her head on the steering. God, her head was hanging already
Who in God's name sent that note to her? How could anyone know about the baby? The only person she'd told was Westley. and something in her guts told her Westley had nothing to do with it. was someone else.
She called a friend of hers, asking if she could come over. Stephanie didn't have an issue and was more than glad to have her. She and Stephanie had been fiends since high school, she was sure she could trust her. Stephanie showed her to her room and helped her settle in. Sylvie had no plans of revealing the pregnancy to her. So, she simply told her someone had dropped a life-threatening note on her doorstep.
Don't you think you should go to the police?" Stephanie asked after cursing at whoever it was
Sylvie assured her that she would, but she doubted it. That would require her telling the police about the pregnancy,
God, she was confused. Now, she wanted to get away from there.
Later that evening, Westley had gone visiting. He'd gone to her old apartment and was only informed she'd moved when he called her on the phone. He had to drive to Stephanie's place where Sylvie stepped out to see him. "Hey, what's going on? Why are you here? He looked genuinely concerned, looking at Stephanie's house behind her.
Sylvie didn't want to share what had really happened with anyone, but she feared she'd lose her mind if she had to handle it
alone.
I found a note on my doorstep. Someone else knows I'm pregnant and is threatening me to get rid of it.
Westley flinched. "What the hell?? What're you saying. Sylvie?"
She hid her shaky hands in the pockets of her cardigan and shrugged. Tm as shocked as you are."
"I swear. Sylvie, I have nothing to do with it. I haven't....
"I know," she cut him off with a soft smile. "I know it can't be you."
She leaned against his car while Westley brushed his fingers into his hair.
"Why would this person want you to get rid of the baby? It must be someone who has something to lose if the baby gets known. Westley said.
Sylvie had thought about it as well. Nobody should have an issue with her being pregnant, unless they had something to lose. She had
good guesses on the people around Kage. Kage currently held power in the Hawkins family. If he was to have a child. that child would be sure to inherit everything. Perhaps, some of his family members were insecure about it.
Perhaps, it was Lana or someone from Lana's family, or maybe it was a girlfriend of Kage, his secret admirer, a hidden baby mama, his enemies. It could be anyone! But something in Sylvie's guts told her it had to do with him. The question was, how did they get to know? "What if it's Kage himself?" Westley snapped her back to reality. "I mean, he never wanted the baby, right? What if he somehow, got to know you were pregnant at the office and is angry about it?"
Sylvie scoffed, finding it ridiculous. "So, you think Kage will threaten to kill me if I didn't get rid of his babies?" "Well
"Well, you sound so shocked. Do you seriously think he can't do it?"
"He can't" She looked him right in the eyes and said. "Kage might be a lot of things, but I doubt he'd stoop so low. If he did learn the truth and wanted the babies gone, he'd tell me to my face." She drew in a deep breath, leaning back against the car.
Westley looked around "Okay, why don't you move in with me? I don't think you're safe being here, Sylvie. I could
10 PM
Im with a friend. Don't worry, I'm fine. She lowered her gaze to the floor.
Westley looked at the house. It looked big and comfy, but he'd have felt better if she moved in with him "I'm sorry I couldn't take your calls earlier. I was in a meeting and my day was extremely busy," he said. Sylvie nodded. "Kage approached me at the office today. He sai "Westley, come on; did you really do it?"
He shrugged and didn't say anything.
"Westley!"
"I told you, Sylvie, he took what was mine. If I'm not heading that project myself, I don't think I'll watch it grow."Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
She sighed wearily. "Why don't you just...
I mean, don't you think this is gonna cause some issues? Kage was pretty angry "Like I was when he took the land from me! Look, Sylvie, I just need you to stay out of this. This is between me and Kage, okay? It's a business mess. Don't get involved, please." She rolled her eyes. She had her own problems anyway and was already exhausted. She'd really want to stay out of anything else, but somehow, she felt she was trapped in the middle..
