My Mirror Image by Maybe Not (Candice And Alex’s)

Chapter 0488

Chapter 0488

Dealing with the social obligations of the matchmaking group was more exhausting than being in the business arena. When Candice finally managed to break free, the ball had already started.

Naturally, she entered with Hanley, and at a glance, she saw Alex by the dance floor, standing next to a delicate-looking girl, presumably his dance partner.

Alex's preferences had not changed much. He had always liked the obedient and cute type, probably thinking that these girls were easier to control.

Naturally, Alex saw Candice as well. Her coat was off, revealing her sexy figure, swaying leisurely in the middle of the dance floor.

However, the hand around her waist was very prominent, making Alex's already indifferent face even more gloomy.

Candice was not particularly fond of dancing, and she had only dragged Hanley onto the floor because a familiar lady had urged her to.

After a dance, she put Hanley’s coat back on, intending to go out and call Yana to remind her to put Ellis to bed. Unexpectedly, a waiter came over with a tray and accidentally spilled juice all over her.

Fortunately, she was wearing Hanley's coat, so it didn’t get on her dress. It was a light color and made of thin material, so it would have been embarrassing if the dress had gotten stained.

The waiter was startled and apologized frantically. A large amount of the coat was soaked with the juice, so in order to avoid dirtying her dress, Candice had to take it off.

She looked at the stains on her clothes, but didn’t argue with the waiter. After all, there were indeed many people in the venue.

The only trouble was that Hanley's coat was dirty, and Hanley had just been called away by an acquaintance. She could only ask the waiter to bring a bag over.

While Candice was waiting, a girl came over. Candice glanced at her, finding her somewhat familiar, then remembered she was the girl who had just been with Alex.

She looked away, only to hear the girl's voice. "Hello, may I pass by?"

She glanced sideways and saw the girl holding a plate, seemingly wanting to get a piece of cake.

Candice moved aside a bit, and heard the girl say, "Thank you. Actually, I saw you just now, Miss, you're so pretty." She smiled and her eyes curved like a little fox. "Even prettier than in the photos." Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.

Candice was slightly taken aback. "What photos?"

"The company's previous team building photos. Kayla showed me. She said you've been gone for a long time." She paused then introduced herself. "Oh, right, I'm Yuna Jones, an intern at Aether. I'm on a business trip with Mr. Elysian."

Candice was not familiar with her and was not particularly interested in what she said. "Alex should be mentoring you," she said.

But what exactly he was mentoring her in, was hard to say.

Yuna openly admitted, "He will definitely mentor me." After all, she and Alex were distant relatives, and the two families had recent business dealings. As a result, her father had sent her over to learn and gain experience.

Candice's remark had only been casual. She hadn’t really wanted to get into a discussion, but Yuna didn’t catch the perfunctory tone in her words.

She even casually took out her phone. "Miss, let's add each other on WhatsApp. Kayla told me you used to be the secretary that Mr. Elysian trusted the most in the company. I want to learn from you."

Candice refused decisively.

Yuna looked disappointed, but quickly raised her head and called out, "Mr. Elysian."

Alex had come over for work and had just gone to socialize. He had been drinking and had a faint smell of alcohol on him.

His gaze lingered on Candice for a moment, then he casually asked Yuna, "What are you doing here?"

"I came over to learn about work attitudes from one of your previous employees," Yuna explained.

Hearing this made Candice uncomfortable. She couldn’t help but frown and glance at Yuna.
