My Fiance Ran Away On Our Wedding Day

Chapter 94

Chapter 94

Anika took out some sweets from Zac's suit pocket and handed it to Belle with a smile.

The road from JH City to X County was rough and bumpy.

They left early in the morning and hadn't eaten breakfast yet.

Afraid of hypoglycemia, Anika deliberately put some sweets in Zac's pocket and ate a few on the way here.

When she tried to persuade Zac to eat the sweets, he resisted.

In the end, he barely tasted one at her request, so much so that there were still quite a few left.

Anika had no place to put the sweets in her skirt, so she stuffed all the sweets into his pocket.

Belle took the sweets from Anika's hand and whispered, "Thank you, ma’am."

Then, she lowered her head and trotted into the dormitory.

Anika couldn't help but chuckle as she saw the tiny figure go around the corner.

She used to sneak away with Nataly during her lunch break all the time back then.

After coming out of the orphanage, Rudolf knew that they were still staying in X County for two days and hadn't booked a hotel, so he took them to an express hotel near the orphanage.

The hotel was only a short distance away.

Rudolf ushered them to the door, ashamed, and added, "I'm not sure if you won't grow accustomed to it.Only this neighboring motel is still available.

X County was a tiny town with few tourist attractions and few excellent hotels.

Anika didn't care about it and only looked at the man beside her.

Zac nodded towards Rudolf and smiled faintly, "This place is quite good. We'll take care of the check-in ourselves. You can go back”

Rudolf heaved a sigh of relief and nodded.

After leaving, the two of them entered the hotel to check in.

She took the room card and went to the room.

When she opened the door, she smelled a dull smell.

Anika looked at the man beside her.

In his second year of high school, he remembers the school organizing a two-and-a-half-day spring trip.

Zac had also complained to her, the group's leader, about the stench in the hotel room.

At the university, he did not live in a dormitory, but in the apartment that his father bought for him near the university.

Zac caught a glimpse of her strange gaze and raised his eyebrows.

"What's wrong?" He said casually.

"You used to ..." She hesitated.

The man instantly understood and patted her head, "Do you think I can't stay? Then you're overthinking it.I've already slept in worse conditions.Do you think I still mind this?"

His tone was very relaxed.

With that, Anika raised her eyes to look at him, her gaze becoming somewhat complicated.

"So what?"

He sensed her silence.

Anika shook her head and suddenly reached out to hug him.

Her voice was muffled, "Zac, did you ...have a bad time in the years when your father was in trouble?"

She had always wanted to ask this question, but she couldn't find the right moment since she was aware of his pompous self-esteem.

Zac's mouth curled into a small arc, and he didn't say anything salty or uncaring.

"Are you suffering for me again? Anika?"

He hugged her back and patted her on the back.

"There's no need to be sad '’ he said.

"I heard that people have a fixed number of hardships in their lives. It's not necessarily a bad thing to experience them early"

Apart from the rare thought that she might be uncomfortable, Zac kept himself so occupied that he forgot about his weariness and focused on everything else.

Hearing his words, Anika raised her head slightly and said, "Are you serious?"

"Of course."

Zac smiled and said, "Aren't you married to me now? This means that both you and I are blessed.’’

"So you want to claim that, like you, I've gone through all the difficulties?"

Anika asked, smiling.

When the guy noticed her perplexed expression, he bent his index finger and gently stroked her nose, adding, "You've been through more than I have, and you'll be able to appreciate more in the future.Perhaps my pain isn't over yet, and I'll have to rely on you for help in the future.”

Hearing this, Anika bent her eyes and couldn't help but stand on tiptoe.

She lightly kissed the corner of his mouth and said, "Alright, I'll take care of you."

For some reason, the sour feeling in his heart just now became irrelevant.

‘‘Just a few words from her, and I'm at peace”

The two of them strolled out of the hotel hand in hand after they packed their baggage.

Anika returned this time mostly to sweep the grave of the headmaster.

The headmaster was laid to rest at the Emerald Gardens in X County's south.

They wouldn't be able to arrive until the next day.

"Where do you want to go now?" Zac turned his head to ask her.

Anika looked at the wide and unfamiliar street in front of her and thought for a moment, "Let's visit my old school?"

"Sure."

He answered softly.

When Anika enrolled at LZ Middle School, she was already a sophomore.

When she was a freshman, she was still studying in X County's No.1 Middle School.

X County had seen far too many changes.

Despite the fact that they were not far away, the two of them sought instructions before heading to the location.

The other party picked up on Anika's regional accent when she inquired for directions.

She was taken aback by the fact that she had no idea where the No.1 Middle School was located.

She believed she was chatting up and making a joke on purpose.

When they finally arrived at X County's No.1 Middle School, they learned that today was the day of the holidays.

The school was currently tightly shut with no students or teachers.

"What should we do?"

Zac raised his eyebrows and looked at her.

Anika felt a little regretful, "What a pity.I originally wanted to sneak in with the students, but now there's nothing I can do."

"It's not difficult to enter."

Zac smiled at her with great interest.

Seeing that she was looking forward to it, he said, "Shall I take you over the wall?"

Anika glanced at him and said, "I don't want to climb over the wall."

She wore a skirt and climbing over the wall was really not nice.

Moreover, Anika had been a good student for more than ten years, so she didn't try to climb over the wall and enter the school that way.

Just as she finished speaking, she saw a grey-haired figure appear in front of the security room at the school gate.

Her eyes lit up and she hurriedly pulled Zac over.

Across the school gate, Anika said to the figure not far away, "Sir Denvers, do you still remember me?" Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.

The old man who was stopped by her slowly turned his head.

His slightly muddy eyes carefully identified the person who spoke and asked with uncertainty, "Are you ...Anika?"

Anika smiled and said softly, "It's me.I didn't expect you to still be here.I thought that you retired already, sir?"

Seeing that she seemed to be very happy, Denvers smiled and waved his hand, "I'm retired now.But it's not comfortable to stay at home.I still come to visit the school a few times during the school holidays"

With that, the old man's gaze fell on the man beside her.

Anika then introduced, "This is my husband.I came back to X County this time to visit the grave of the headmaster.I want to take him back to school to take a look”

"Hello" Zac nodded politely.

"Very good, very good. He's really handsome’’ The old man stared at the other party and nodded repeatedly.

After a while, he pushed open the door for the two of them.

He gave Anika another look, and said with a smile, "You guys go in."

Sir Denvers was thanked for allowing them to enter the vacant school.

Zac shook his head and glanced at her after a few steps "Is it true that I'm following you through the back door, Anika? Do you know who the school’s security guards are?"

Anika took a breather and said, "Sir Denvers used to reside right next door to the orphanage and would often give meals to the kids. His son moved to work somewhere else, and his wife returned to her family. He wasn't typically looked after.I saw that he lingered in the security room on occasion and was unconcerned about his meals, so we would accompany him to the cafeteria to cook a meal."

"Afterwards …”
