Chapter 3 Trapped in Despair!
Verena said awkwardly, "Okay, I got it."
When the doctor left, she tucked her father in and was about to go back home. Text © by N0ve/lDrama.Org.
As Susan had the check, she needed to ask her to get some money from bank.
When she saw the stained suit left aside, she suddenly stopped.
The handsome face and the dark eyes of that elegant gentleman popped out in her mind again. Even a
simple glimpse at him would carve his face in her heart.
However, for her, he was nothing but a nightmare.
Though she only saw the suit, she seemed to see him standing right in front of her.
But she was aware that it was her own choice that night.
However, she was still mad because of his fierce move that night.
She threw the suit on the ground and tramped on it with her lips pressed out of anger.
When seeing the footprint stain on the tailored suit, she finally relaxed a bit.
An hour later, she went back home.
However, no one opened the door though she had been ringing the doorbell for a few times.
Suddenly, a bad feeling surged up in her mind. Her legs were weak a bit.
She kept knocking the door hard, "Mom, are you there? Open the door!"
One of her neighbors, Ms. Lee, was going upstairs while carrying some food.
When seeing that, she asked confusedly, "Verena, you didn't move out with your mom?"
"Move out? No, I didn't!"
"What?" Ms. Lee was stunned, "Impossible! I just saw your mom and your sister when I went to buy
some food. Both of them were carrying a suitcase. They told me that they were moving out."
When hearing that, Verena almost fainted away, "Ms. Lee, are you sure that was my mom?"
"Of course!" Ms. Lee frowned.
She gasped and tried to calm herself down. Then she rushed out.
Soon, she reached the workplace of Susan. But she didn't go to work today.
Verena immediately stopped one of her colleagues, "Did Susan go to work today?"
"She has resigned this morning!"
'Resign?' Verena felt like being shocked by a bolt from the blue.
She couldn't help falling down on the ground. She felt like being trapped into a freezing cold abyss.
Suddenly, it reminded her of the moment that Susan brought two suitcases back home today. She
should have been alert at that time.
But she didn't expect that Susan could be so cruel to her and her father. After all, she had been married
with her father for more than twenty years.
Her father was still kept in the hospital. However, Susan actually absconded with the money!
Verena even dreamed that everything would be better since the nightmare that night ended.
She was expecting a new life. So she still kept hope in her mind.
When she was feeling better, Susan actually pushed her to the edge of collapse!
Tomorrow would be the next surgery of her father. And it would cost five hundred thousand.
How could she gain so much in one night!
Feeling sad and desperate, she was wandering on the street like a walking dead.
What should she do?
When her phone rang again, she finally collected herself, "Hello?"
"You have run out of your rent! You have to move out! Just get back to pack your stuff! Or I will throw
them all away!"
Verena hurried to say, "Please! Please spare me two more days!"
However, the phone was hung up.
She didn't dare to hesitate. So she hurried to go back home.
However, she was late. All her stuff was thrown out of the house.
Then the landlord slammed the door shut in front of her.
Verena kept silent. She turned around and left with the heavy suitcase.
The longer she was walking, the more pain she was bearing.
She squatted down on the street. Tears welled up in her eyes. However, she still tried to hold them
back.
She was aware that she would be left alone from now on. There would be no one for her to rely on. Nor
would there be anyone who was willing to support her.
She could only stay strong from now on.
Then she gasped and managed to stand up again. She had to face the cold wind on her own.
As the night fell, the city was lit up by colorful neon instantly. It looked prosperous but extravagant.
While lost in thought, she suddenly got another call.
She took out her phone and noticed that it was a call from the job fair.
"Miss Moore?"
"Yes?" she answered.
"According to your information you offered before, we have found a housekeeping job for you."
"May I know about the pay packet?"
For her, every job mattered though it was just a housekeeping job. After all, she could get paid legally.
So she didn't deem it humble.
"Well, you said the higher the pay packet, the more you wanted, right? So this is the one with the
highest pay packet. But the hirer is not one of those common ones. As long as you perform well, your
bonus could be even higher than your basic pay."
"Thank you. So when should I go to work?"
"Come here tomorrow to go through the procedure. Then you can start to work the day after tomorrow."
When the phone was hung up, Verena was still feeling suffocated.
Though she found a job, she still had an expensive fee to pay off for her father. What should she do
then?
She could never just stand by and wait for the death of her father.
She had never been that desperate and powerless since she was born.
She kept wandering while dragging the suitcase. Her lonely shadow lengthened on the ground as the
light shed on her.
As she turned around a street corner, she happened to see a luxurious building decorated with shining
neon, which rendered her agitated.
That was the place where her nightmare originated.
That was a luxurious and extravagant spot—the Muse Bar, while the parking lot of which was filled with
all kinds of limousines.
She was dreaming if she could own one of them.
As long as she sold it, she could gain more than a million.
Then she could pay off the medical fee for her father.
She dissolved into laughter when thinking of that. But it sounded so bitter.
There was always a huge gap between the poor and the rich.
As the wind breezed, flyers scattering on the ground were all lifted up. And one of them happened to
rush to her face.
She frowned and looked at it.
It was a flyer of the Muse Bar, where there shown that there would be an auction at 8:00 PM tomorrow
night.
