Chapter 28 Clothes Worth Hundreds of Thousands
He’d actually found Blanca’s phone left on the sofa and was about to give it back to her. Then he happened to see Blanca taking Mary’s arm and shoving her off.
Mary must have seen him and faked an exaggerated fall.
Matthew knew that Blanca had her quirks, but she was simple and mild and would never go out of her way to offend other people. She must have been dragged into an argument with Mary.
And this was her first time coming to his office to deliver his meals, too!
Matthew was furious that such a thing had happened.
“Are you still not getting up, Miss Robinson?” Matthew said coldly.
As she heard what he said, Mary’s eyes reddened. “Mr. Grant, I’ve … I’ve fallen and I can’t get up.”
“Then you can stay down there.”
“Eh?” Mary blinked.
Blanca let out a puff of laughter. As he saw her smile, Matthew relaxed somewhat.
Mary looked at Lisa, who gave her a look. So she stood up and said that it wasn’t so serious. Apparently, she could stand now.
Blanca set her smile away and turned to Matthew. “Darling, I just bumped into this employee of yours and dirtied her clothes. She says her outfit’s worth fifteen thousand. Could you please pay her back?”
Matthew didn’t hear what Blanca said in too much detail after that “darling” of hers.
He knew that the girl was just playing it sappy in front of the people who’d tried to bully her, but that soft, sweet “darling” was music to his ears.
“That’s fine, but my wife’s outfit has gotten dirty as well. How are you planning on paying it back, Miss Robinson?”
Matthew shot a look at Mary.
Mary herself was staring out into space. What did that woman say? Was it “Darling”?
Was she the wife that Matthew had just announced formally?
Thinking about that, then looking at Blanca, Mary finally came back to her senses and realized that it really was the Blanca Roach from the press conference. She’d never thought the woman would come to the office in person.
Mary was fuming, but she could see that Matthew was angry, so she hurriedly said, “Since we bumped into each other, we were both being careless, and neither of us are completely to blame…”
“That’s exactly the case,” Matthew said coldly. “Then you can pay each other back. My wife will pay Miss Robinson back fifteen thousand, and Miss Robinson will pay my wife back a hundred thousand.”
Blanca’s heart jolted and she looked at Matthew. Mr. Grant, you were not joking, were you?

Mary was similarly shaken.
It wasn’t that she couldn’t produce a hundred thousand, but it wasn’t a small sum…
Well, having gotten this far, there was no going back.
To keep Matthew from being completely disappointed in her, she just had to bite the bullet anyway.
“Okay. I’ll pay it back.”
Blanca blinked and shot a look at Matthew, mumbling, “Man, it’s just … good money working for you, huh…”
Her voice was small but Matthew was close, so he heard everything.
Of course he knew that Mary Robinson would agree only because her family had money, but he didn’t want to explain it to Blanca at the moment, so he muttered back, “Do you want to come work for me too?”
