Chapter 148
Chapter 148
"That's right! Catalina, you are indeed a slut. Only Mr. Warren is foolish enough to fall for someone like
you over and over again!"
"Exactly! We should have known your true colors four years ago! Now, Mr. Warren has become the
laughingstock of the entire Sayton because of you! Get out, leave Ink Villa now!"
The maids were so agitated that they even started pushing Catalina.
Catalina stumbled backward from the pushing.
"What are you all doing?"
Suddenly, a cold voice sounded from the corridor in the front hall.
All the maids immediately restrained their arrogance and lowered their heads, "Mr. Warren."
"Dismiss now!"
Warren commended with a dark expression while pushing his wheelchair in.
"Yes..."
The maids all left together.
Before leaving, they didn't forget to warn Catalina with a stern glare.
Catalina didn't feel much about their bad attitude toward her.
She could even understand their protective behavior, after all, she had indeed repeatedly disappointed
Warren's affection.
"Warren."
Catalina called out guiltily.
Warren sat in his wheelchair, looking at her from a distance.
In his eyes, there was no longer the warmth of the past but a distant coldness.
"Are you here to pack your things?"
Catalina shook her head, then nodded.
Yes, but not entirely.
Her main purpose in coming was to apologize.
"I'm sorry."
Catalina half-bowed and earnestly apologized to Warren, "I know that those words may mean nothing
to you, and they can't ease any of your pain, but... I still want to apologize. I'm truly, truly sorry..."
"Is that all?"
Warren chuckled. He shook his head and said, "Catalina, that's not nearly enough."
"Yes, I know it's not enough."
But she didn't know what else she could do to alleviate his pain.
Warren's large hand held his shrunk-long leg and said, "Catalina, look at my legs. This is the pain
Bennett brought upon me! I admit I married you with ulterior motives. I wanted Bennett to taste the
bitterness of loss as how I felt, but I underestimated your feelings toward him. However, this pain can't
be taken away with just an apology."
"What else do you expect me to do for you?"
Those legs were something that Catalina and Bennett had to pay for.
Catalina knew that as long as Warren didn't recover, she couldn't clear her guilt.
But was it even possible for him to recover?
"I want you to help me disable Bennett's legs as well."
Warren's tone was casual as if he was talking about the weather.
Because he said it too casually, it made Catalina break out in a cold sweat and said, "Warren, this joke
is not funny at all!"
Warren sneered, turned away from Catalina, and turned his back to her. He said, "Just go! Every debt
has its debtor. Whoever owes the debt should repay it. As for you... you're just an insignificant pawn! If
you want to blame someone, blame Carolyn! I... I don't have much affection for you. Since you have
made your choice, you should bear the consequences."
After Warren finished speaking, he left.
Leaving Catalina standing there, unable to come to her senses for a long time.
What did he mean by his words?
Every debt had its debtor.
What was the debt he mentioned? And who owed the debt?
Moreover, saying she was just an insignificant pawn, what did that mean?
Was Catalina being set up in some scheme? And what was this so-called scheme?
Was Carolyn the one who set up that scheme?
Catalina was completely bewildered.
She couldn't understand a word of what he said.
Scheme...
What kind of scheme was that? And when did that scheme start?
Catalina racked her brains, trying to figure it out.
"Ms. Grant, please come this way!"
Just as Catalina was thinking, suddenly, Ronan called her.
Catalina had to stop her thoughts and followed Ronan into the room to pack her luggage.
While packing, she heard a young maid nearby scolded, "Mr. Warren is already pitiful enough. Four
years ago, you humiliated him publicly, and now, after he finally woke up, he lost both legs. Catalina,
you're a true disaster. Please stay away from Mr. Warren in the future!"
Four years ago...
The scheme set up by Carolyn?
Catalina's mind kept replaying various events that happened to her over the years.
Scheme? What kind of scheme did she fall into?
Was it related to what happened four years ago, on the eve of her wedding?
Or...
Catalina's eyes lit up and her pupils dilated suddenly.
Or, was the night she spent with Bennett four years ago, carefully set up by someone?
If it wasn't a setup, why was it that night when she was sleeping peacefully alone, with the door tightly
closed, and Bennett suddenly barged in?
And why did it have to be Bennett?
Catalina slapped her forehead and sat down on the luggage.
"Idiot!"
She scolded herself.
She had never seriously thought about those things!
"You just realized you're an idiot? Do you think you can find a better man than Mr. Warren after Content (C) Nôv/elDra/ma.Org.
abandoning him? You're utterly foolish, not knowing how fortunate you were."
The maid continued to scold her.
But Catalina had not paid any attention to her her words.
If four years ago was really a scheme, then who could be the one behind it?
Who put Bennett in her bed, and why did they let them have such a shameful incident on the night
before their wedding?
Could it be Carolyn?
That was impossible!
Catalina could never believe that Carolyn would set up her son and put him with her, unless she had
mistaken the person. But if she got it wrong, why would she choose the night before Warren and
Catalina's wedding?
The other person who knew about it was Warren.
Could it be Warren?
Would that be the case?
She was his fiancée at the time. Would he arrange for his fiancée to have an affair with his own
brother? And worse, that brother being his own blood?
The crucial point was that the next day, he became a vegetable due to that news which caused him
extreme emotional distress.
So, logically, he shouldn't have anything to do with this scheme.
But if it had nothing to do with either of them, then why did both of them know about what happened
that night?
Moreover, the surveillance footage was deleted by Carolyn's people the next day, so how did she come
to know about it?
And the person who tore her wedding dress the next day was... Jenny?
Suddenly, Catalina was completely confused!
What kind of scheme had she fallen into? And who was the mastermind behind it?
The more she thought about it, the more confused she became, and she felt she needed to find a way
to unravel this mystery.
She decided to call Bennett, but then changed her mind and sent a text message instead.
In the message, she vaguely mentioned her speculations and those incidents of that time.
She just wanted to provide Bennett with direction.
After a while, she received a reply with just one word, "Okay."
Meanwhile, in a certain building, Bennett's mouth curled up as he had just finished investigating and
was pleased with the findings.
