His Redemption (Complete His Series)

His Retaliation (Complete His Series) Chapter 24

LILY

I watched Lea try something new with Damien. I wasn’t sure what that meant, but I would do anything to get him back at this point. When she said to make sure that she wasn’t interrupted, I got a little worried but trusted her. After Liam’s blowout over the last time she almost got hurt, I doubt she would do anything too serious.

She held onto him and sat very still. I watched, not having much hope after weeks of the same thing. I looked up at Damien’s face; his expression was the same neutral, resting one he had forever now.

Then his eyebrows scrunch, and his l*p twitched. I sucked in a breath. Was something happening? His face relaxed, and I looked at Lea’s whose nose was bleeding.

Just as I was about to shake her to stop her, Damian’s eyes fluttered open. He looked around, and I let out a small shriek, covering my mouth in surprise.

“Lilypad?” he croaked hoarsely. I tore my eyes over to Lea who finally opened hers. She swayed slightly then fell out of her chair, unconscious on the floor. I was torn at that moment on what to do. Go to my mate who my body yearned for or help my best friend. Damian turned his head.

“Azalea?” he whispered. I snapped out of my trance and moved to Lea on the floor.

“Nurse!” I screamed, moving around the bed.

Damien was awake, but now Lea was passed out. There was so much b***d down her front, coming from her nose. I tried to pull her up, but her dead weight was heavy. Since when was she heavy? “Nurse!” I screamed louder. There was movement outside the room.

“Get Doctor Ronald!” I heard someone yell as they rushed to my side. “What happened? Why is Luna passed out and bleeding?”

“I don’t know! She was trying to help Damian. He woke up, and then she passed out!” I rushed out.

“Lilypad?” Damian said again from above us on the bed. I turned my head to look at him, still panicking that it was all happening at once.

Another nurse and Doctor Ron rushed in, coming around the bed to Lea first. He looked surprised for a moment before he was resigned to what happened. The two nurses and Doctor Ron got Lea gently moved onto a bed. I stood up and turned to Damien, who was watching them.

Tears pricked my eyes. He was awake. He was right here and awake. “Dai?” I said, a sob choking me. His eyes met mine, and a small smile flitted across his face.

I launched myself at him, wrapping myself over him. “Oh Goddess, you’re awake,” I cried. His arms encircled me, pulling me close. I felt his face nuzzle into the top of my head.

The sparks were back. I could feel my mate again as he touched me, and I touched him. I sobbed harder, so relieved that he was finally awake.

“Shhhh,” he chided. “I’m here,” his gruff voice said. He had no idea how much I missed his voice.

“Lily?” Doctor Ron said from above me. “I know how happy you are that he is awake, but I really need to look him over, okay? Five minutes and you two can be alone.”

I nodded, reluctantly pulling away. I looked at Damian, who oddly looked tired. “Don’t close your eyes again,” I threatened.

“I wouldn’t dream of it, Lilypad,” he said softly. I nodded and stepped away so Doctor Ron could look at him.

“Is Lea okay?” I asked behind him.

“She should be,” he said. “Would you mind calling my nephew? I don’t believe he will be happy, but it might soften the blow if you were the one to deliver the news.”

I nodded my head and pulled out my phone. Liam would be furious, but maybe with Damien awake, he would soften a bit. The phone rang twice before he picked up. “Liam?” I said.

“Hey Lily, what’s going on?” he asked.

“Damien’s awake,” I said. There was a loud thudding on the other end of the phone.

“I’ll be right there!” he said quickly.

“Liam!” I said, stopping him from hanging up.

“What?” he said. “Is something wrong? Is Damien okay?”

“Damien’s okay, I think. Your uncle is checking on him. It’s Lea,” I said. Liam was silent. “She woke him up, but her nose is bleeding, and she passed out. I’m sure she’ll be okay, but you should know.” Liam growled on the other end of the phone before it cut out.

I pushed my phone back in my pocket and turned back to the bed where Doctor Ron was helping Damien sit up. “Why don’t we give it some time before we try getting out of the bed. You have been asleep a long time,” he told Damien.

“How long?” Damien asked.

“Why don’t you talk to your mate? I’ll be back to answer any questions she doesn’t in a bit,” Doctor Ron said, turning to me with a warm smile. I gave him a nod, and he moved to leave the room. Azalea had already been taken somewhere else.

As soon as Doctor Ron was out of the way, I moved right to Damien’s side. He opened his arms, and I didn’t hesitate to climb right on top of him. The floodgates opened, and I couldn’t hold back anymore. I cried, letting out every ounce of worry and frustration of the past couple of weeks.

Then I sat up and hit Damien. I punched him right in the chest. “Ow, what was that for?” he g*****d. Then I hit him again, and again, and again.

“You stupid wolf. How dare you do that to me? How dare you get yourself hurt? You stupid, stupid wolf!” I started yelling as I continued to hit him. He let it go on for a minute before he caught my wrists, stopping me.

“I’m sorry,” he said in a level tone, his eyes connecting with mine. “I’m sorry, my love.”

“I didn’t know if you would ever wake up!” I yelled at him.

“I am sorry,” he said again. My l*p trembled as so many emotions coursed through me. We held each other’s gaze for a long minute before someone burst into the room. We both turned to see Liam standing, looking angry and breathing heavily. Missy stood behind him.

“Where is she?” he asked frantically.

LIAM

I couldn’t believe Azalea would do this. Actually, I could. She would do anything to get Damien awake, and I should have known this would happen eventually. When I burst into Damien’s room, Lily was on top of them. Her face was blotchy, and I could see the tears as she looked at me. Damien held her wrists in his hands.

“Where is she?” I asked, having little patience for whatever they were doing.

“Your uncle took her somewhere,” Lily said. I turned, almost running right over Missy, who was right behind me. She stepped out of the way, and I moved through the clinic, using my nose to find my mate.

I turned a corner and caught her scent. I hurried my pace and found her in a room with my uncle and a nurse. “What happened?” I roared, pushing my way over to her side.

“I wasn’t there,” my uncle calmly said. “She seems to be just fine, just sleeping.”

“Who was with her?” I asked quickly. “Where is Felix?”

“Felix had to leave,” my uncle said. “The front desk was supposed to let you know that someone was on the way to replace him. I think he needed to go to Lacey.”

“They didn’t,” I growled. Missy put her hand on my arm; I turned to her, giving me a compassionate look. I sighed and tried to calm myself down. “So, did she overdo it then?”

“I believe so,” my uncle answered. “We should let her rest for now. We cleaned up her nose and put some fluids on her. I don’t know what she did, but Damien is awake.”

“Will he have any lasting side effects?” I asked.

“Too soon to tell,” he answered. “ I thought it best to let him and Lily have some time before we started figuring any of that out. His body is going to be weak from all the time lying in bed. He still has some recovery ahead even without consequences from the vampire venom.”

I nodded my head, my eyes stuck on Azalea. “Why don’t you stay here with Azalea for now, and I will come to get you in a bit to see Damien?” my uncle suggested. I nodded my head and reached down to hold Azalea’s hand.

Azalea stirred on the bed, slowly opening her eyes and pulling herself up. “Ow,” she whispered. I waited for her to get her bearings and look around. When she did, she saw Missy and I sitting next to the bed. A soft ‘oh’ escaped her lips.

“Do you want to explain how we ended up here?” I asked her.

“No,” she said, adjusting herself on the bed.

“That wasn’t really a request,” I told her, frowning. She sighed.

“Is Damien awake?” she asked. I nodded. “Good, then my plan worked. I’m fine, so everything worked out.”

“And what if it hadn’t?” I pushed. “What if my best friend was now awake, but I lost my mate?”

She turned to me with a scowl. “Then you would have your Beta back, and I would have made a decision I am okay with.”

“But I’m not!” I roared. Azalea shrunk back, startled at my outburst. “I’m not okay trading you for anyone! Why can’t you understand that!”

I didn’t mean to unleash my frustration like that, but every time this happened, I feared the worst. One of these times, she was going to help someone else, but I would lose her. I stood up from my chair, making it fall behind me. I stormed from the room, needing some air.

AZALEA

Liam was furious. I was worried about that, but I had no regrets. Damien was awake, and that was the important thing here. Missy had a worried look on her face as Liam stormed out of the room.

“It’s okay,” I told her. “He just needs a moment.” She just nodded. “Why don’t you help me up, and we can go see how Damien is doing?”

Missy stood, and I swung my legs over the bed. I grabbed her arm, and she helped me steady myself on my feet. “If it makes Liam so mad, why do you do it?” Missy asked as we slowly walked to the door.

“Because it’s the only way I can help,” I told her. She nodded with a thoughtful look on her face. “I can’t fight like your father, or Damien, or Maddox. And your father insists on a babysitter for me at all times which makes me feel like more of a burden. But with this, I can be of use.”Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.

“They don’t think of you that way. Liam is useless without you, honestly,” Missy commented. I held onto her a bit tighter, my heart warm at her words.

We made our way to Damien’s room. He was sitting up in bed with Lily wrapped around him. When we stepped up to the window, he looked over and smiled at us. He bent down and whispered something into Lily’s ear before waving us in. Lily reluctantly pulled herself away from him and crawled off the bed.

“Nice to see you awake,” I said as we came in.

“I guess some thanks are in order,” he said. “You got me out of that.”

“No big deal,” I said, waving him off. That earned me a low laugh.

“I guess my i***t best friend is a little angry right now?” he asked.

“Yea,” I said. Damien gave me a look that told me he understood without more explanation.

“So, tell me everything,” he said.
