Chapter 20 Found Sadie
Chapter 20 Found Sadie
Libby Webb walked out of the ward. She took a deep breath, lowered her head and sent the recording
file to Sadie Chambers via WeChat.
She also wanted to leave the orphanage, but she had lost her only chance. Now she couldn't get rid of
Esme Harper's control over her whole life.
There were so many children in the orphanage. However, only Sadie and her were really adopted and
in the same household registration book with Esme.
No matter how much she didn’t like her or envy her, she still hoped that she could be free instead of
being kidnapped by that old witch.
It would be awful to be treated at the late stage of cancer. Sadie was so silly that she might really lose
her mind, just like she did at the beginning… Sold herself stupidly.
It was not that she sympathized with Sadie, she just wanted Esme to die!
In this way, she would be completely free, completely get rid of that dirty past.
After seeing the recording was completely sent, Libby looked up and took a deep breath. Then she
walked away in a hurry.
The sound of high-heeled shoes stepping on the ground gradually drifted away, and soon disappeared
into the elevator hall in the middle of the corridor.
Julian McCarthy put away the Pad, took off the earphones and threw it to Khalid Hall. "Go and find out
who gave the money to Dean Esme in the orphanage when Sadie was adopted."
He took out Sadie's mobile phone, unlocked it, logged in to WeChat and opened the recording file,
received while he was talking.Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
After listened to the files with his lips pursed, a murderous look appeared in his eyes.
How dare those people who wanted to sell his men; they were asking for death. He put the phone away
casually, and then he pushed the door and sat down by the bed.
Sadie lay on her side quietly. Her eyes closed as if she were asleep, her cheeks were so red because
of the fever. Her long curled eyelashes densely laid out, casting a faint shadow on her dark eye socket.
She began to perspire. There were big beads of sweat on her forehead and nose.
After he stared at her for a moment, he feigned not to know that she was pretending to sleep. He put
his hand into the quilt and held her hot hand naturally. The things her sister said were so cruel. If she
hadn't really lost her memory, she would have been deadly awful.
He knew that she really cared about Dean Esme after he saw her crying downstairs in the hospital
department, in the middle of the night.
Her mother left them early, otherwise she wouldn’t have been bullied so badly in the Howard family.
She would not know that he could have saved her at such a young age, and she immediately begged
him to take her away.
There was a call coming in from the mobile phone.
Julian picked it up, "Hello." He leaned down and kissed her forehead gently. The corners of his lips
were raised happily: "In City B, I won't go back for a while. Come over and have a drink when you have
time."
No sure what the other end of the phone said, his smile was getting bigger. "I actually need your help. I
found Sadie."
After he finished speaking, he took the phone away. He couldn't help leaning over and kissing Sadie's
forehead again.
When the harsh noise on the other end of the phone stopped, he slowly got up and walked out. "I'll take
her back to see you sometime later. I do have something to tell you now..."
The door closed and his voice soon disappeared.
Sadie opened her eyes and looked at the white ceiling in disbelief. Julian even knew her and now he
used the word "found". Was he actually looking for her without acting?
But it was too weird! The more she thought about it, the more her head hurt. Her eyes closed and then
fainted again because of the pain.
When she woke up, Julian was not in the ward and it was dark outside the window.
She widened her eyes and her mind was still in a mess
Couples who came to adopt children in an orphanage rarely adopted girls in China, and the adoption
procedures abroad were more troublesome. In addition, the orphanage was not officially opened and
the procedures were even more difficult.
So most of the people who left were girls, but they were all under the age of 16. Only Libby and she
were adults.
Since she was adopted by Dean Esme, she had often taken her to solicit sponsorships. About three
months after she arrived in the orphanage, she never went out again. Dean Esme's attitude towards
her had also changed, as if her personality changed overnight.
Libby went out with her the most and knew the most people.
Thinking of this, Sadie suddenly felt that she didn't know Libby or Dean Esme at all.
If the recording were not falsified, then Libby, the one who was taken out by Dean Esme the most,
might have been...
"Awake?" Julian's familiar voice suddenly came over her head.
Sadie looked up instinctively.
He had changed his shirt with blue and white pinstripe fabric. The texture looked really good. The two
sleeves were rolled to the elbows, revealing parts of his muscular arms. A Rolex watch with a black
strap was worn on the wrist.
On the bottom, he was wearing black trousers on his straight and slender legs. He leaned slightly to
her side, and from her view, she could clearly see his nice body shape.
"Why don't you talk?" Julian leaned over and pulled the chair over. Then he sat down gracefully.
Probably because he appeared too unexpectedly, the panic in her eyes had not had time to cover up,
which he saw it all at once.
"What's so fascinating?" Julian reached out and rubbed her head, handing over the phone and Pad in
the other hand. "Your phone is broken. I bought you another one and applied for a new card. In
addition, I sorted out your contacts and they are all in it. Take a look carefully and let me know which
ones I need to know and which ones don’t. ."
Sadie took it, and it took a while for her to be back to reality. "How do you know about my contacts?"
She only realized there was no need to ask after she said it. Even if he didn't know her past, it would be
easy for him to investigate on her relation with his resources.
"I'm your husband." Julian emphasized. His tone softened right after, and naturally raised his hand to
reach out her forehead.
The fever had gone, and her forehead was cold. It was smooth and delicate as always.
If it wasn’t for the scary scar on her cheek, his wife would definitely be a beauty.
Sadie tilted her head to avoid his hand. It was a bit hard to get off. "I'm only eighteen years old. How
could I be your wife? Mr. Julian doesn't need to be so in the role."
"Practicing more will help you stay safe when you meet someone you know." Julian was extremely
calm. "If you meet my acquaintances, just tell them that we married in the Country U. Can you
remember it?"
"Country U?" Sadie opened her eyes wide, and a vague memory flashed through her mind, but it was
too soon for her to catch.
Julian watched her expression quietly. She was calm, especially her eyes, which were always clear and
clean like a pool of spring water.
He raised his hand and wiped her nose. His long and clean fingertips fell on the Pad’s screen and
opened the first page of the PPT. "Take your time and ask if you have any questions."
"What about my parents?" Sadie turned her head in disgust, and said casually, "Why is there no
information about them?"
"I haven't found any yet. I will tell you if I find any." Julian replied, and there was another call coming in.
He got up and went to the side to pick it up.
Sadie squeezed the Pad hard.
Did Julian really have no idea or was he hiding it from her on purpose? When he called someone, he
clearly said that he had found her, but he denied it now. His expression was naturally invisible at all.
What was hidden here that she didn’t know?
