Chapter 1803 How Dare They Did That
Chapter 1803 How Dare They Did That
Lucas felt like his back was hot and burning. He didn’t have any strength, but he tried to sit up. He
grabbed his phone and saw that he got a few missed calls from Joseph. He quickly called him back.
“Joseph.”
“Where are you?”
Joseph noticed that Lucas’ voice sounded weak. He couldn’t help but ask.
Lucas looked outside and it was dark. He wondered if it was about to rain. He then replied, “I’m at
Country Y. I have something to do here and will go back soon. Have you found a compatible kidney
donor?” Content © copyrighted by NôvelDrama.Org.
“Yeah, please come back as soon as possible. You should know that donated kidneys are extremely
limited. We have to arrange for a transplant quickly.”
“Okay, I’ll board the plane soon.”
After he hung up the call, Lucas put on clothes swiftly. It was as if the wound on his back wasn’t there
anymore.
He walked out of the room and noticed that Patrick and Ashley were waiting for him outside already.
Lucas was taken aback, but he still said politely, “Aunty Ashley, I need to go back.”
“Have you found a kidney?”
Ashley overheard his phone call just now.
Lucas didn’t try to hide it and nodded.
“How are you feeling?”
“I’m fine.”
“Then let’s go. Patrick, take good care of Lucas on the way.”
“Yes, mom.”
Patrick reached out his hand and wanted to support Lucas while he was walking, but he got rejected.
They boarded the plane and flew to Capital City.
Morty heard that Ashley was reaching soon, so he went to greet her personally. Lucas went directly to
the hospital dean’s office to see Joseph.
“Kylie isn’t here?”
“We don’t need her here.”
Joseph noticed that Lucas looked very pale. He went up and grabbed his wrist. He frowned after
feeling how weak he was.
“What happened?”
“Nothing much. I got my kidney from Yasmeen, so I needed to let Uncle Steven let out some steam. It
was his daughter that he brought up for so many years after all. If my daughter went through something
like that, I would’ve torn the guy apart.”
Lucas accepted the fact well.
Joseph felt sorry for Lucas and was angry at him as well, but he knew that what Lucas said made
sense. He wasn’t an irrational person.
He took out a bottle of pills from his pocket and gave it to Lucas.
“Take two of them, it stops the pain and bleeding. You won’t recover so soon, and you look pretty weak.
Your wound might scar.”
“That’s fine.”
Lucas didn’t mind it too much. He took out two tablets and took them.
“Where’s the kidney?”
“I’m arranging it. Is Aunty Ashley here as well?”
“Yes, she’s with Uncle Morty and is treating Michele.”
Lucas was trying to endure the pain, but it hurt quite a bit. He found a wall and leaned on it. He felt
better after that.
Ashley didn’t go see Yasmeen first thing after she got to Capital City. Instead, she went to Michele’s
room and gave her a full body checkup. She realized that the level of poison in Michele’s body was
quite high, it wasn’t something that could happen in one day. She asked, “Who prepares her meal?”
“She always eats in the canteen.”
Edison could prove this.
Ashley frowned.
“It couldn’t be. If she always eats in the canteen, why is she the only one that got poisoned and other
people are fine?”
Michele quickly realized what was wrong.
“I always bring my own tableware. I’m not used to using the canteen’s tableware.”
“Quick, check her tableware. The level of the poison in your body is very high, it’s not something that
happens overnight. It must be going on for at least three years.”
Morty was listening on the side. He squinted his eyes and was a bit furious.
Someone poisoned her precious daughter!
And this happened in the army base, a strictly controlled area.
How dare they did that!
The guard quickly went to get Michele’s tableware. Edison didn’t look too good either. He glanced at
Michele.
Michele knew what he meant.
The last time when Lucas rescued the hostages, someone messed with his gun. They suspected that it
was also an inside job.
And now this poisoning incident was discovered. This was enough proof to say that there was a mole
among them.
Not long after, the guard came back. But he came back without Michele’s tableware.
“What happened?”
“Miss Hawk’s tableware is gone.”
“What?”
Morty was furious.
“So, you’re telling me that someone stole an army officer’s tableware in a strict and controlled army
base area? Are you kidding me?”
“Dad.”
Michele said abruptly seeing how agitated her father was getting.
“We cannot just blame this on the soldiers on duty. We should check every single person on the base.
When Lucas was on a mission last time, his gun was messed with as well. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have
accidentally hurt the hostage.”
Ashley was taken aback by what Michele said, but she didn’t say anything. She wrote a prescription
and said in a low voice, “My daughter is not feeling well as well, so I’ll be taking my leave soon.
Fortunately, we discovered the poison in Miss Hawk’s body in time. If she starts taking the antidote
right now, she’ll be fine in ten to fourteen days. It’s nothing too bad.”
Ashley then handed the prescription to Morty.
Morty was grateful.
Ashley nodded and didn’t say anything else. She then left Michele’s room and went to Yasmeen’s ward.
Patrick was standing at the door waiting for Ashley. He quickly went up to her when he saw her, “Mom,
is everything settled?”
“Yeah. What’s going on here?”
She was unhappy seeing the number of bodyguards surrounding Yasmeen’s ward. There was nowhere
to walk.
Patrick quickly said, “They were ordered to protect Yasmeen.”
“Make them leave. I want to talk to Yasmeen in private.”
Some of them knew about Yasmeen’s identity, so they knew who Ashley was too. They didn’t dare to
refute upon hearing what Ashley said. The bodyguards then left.
Ashley opened the door and went into the room. She saw Jaydon standing by the door and was looking
at them cautiously.
Yasmeen was taken aback.
“Mom? Brother? Why are you guys here? Where’s Lucas? Isn’t he with you guys?”
Yasmeen bombarded them with a bunch of questions. She got off the bed and looked behind Ashley
anxiously. Ashley felt annoyed seeing how restless Yasmeen was.
“I don’t care if Lucas is here or not. What gives, is Lucas the only one you care about right now? You
don’t care about your parents and your siblings anymore.”
Ashley sounded very stern, and Yasmeen was afraid.
“Mom, what’s with you? You’re so scary.”
Yasmeen took a step backwards because she was scared, but Ashley walked up and pulled Yasmeen’s
ear. She said angrily, “How dare you call me scary? Let me ask you this. When you decided to donate
your kidney to Lucas back then, did you think about us? Did you discuss it with us? We are your
parents, your family. How can you just decide on something this big and not consult any of us? Do you
even care about us at all?”
Yasmeen was floored upon hearing Ashley.
