Come back to Me, My Ex-Wife

Chapter 3 He Had Once Saved Her!

Chapter 3 He Had Once Saved Her!

Upon hearing that, Golden finally looked at her straightly with his sharp and cold eyes. Then he emphasized each single word with hostility, "Doctor Bryne, you really have a glib tongue!"

Margery smiled and then shook her head, "Mr. Barrett, are you flattering me?"

Pansy, who stood beside him, stared at Margery with suspicion. Then she turned to look at Golden, whose face darkened. She noticed that there was something wrong between them. But she couldn't tell exactly.

Golden frowned and then shifted his sharp gaze off Margery's face. Then he looked at Mr. Chang, who seemed to be quite confused about what was going on. Then he sneered, "I don't deserve to talk to such a lady with glib tongue. Mr. Chang, you may continue now."

Then he lowered his head and said to Pansy gently, "It's late now. I will have my driver send you home."

Margery had never seen him being so gentle and tender while he was talking to Pansy.

Margery blinked her eyes. Then she saw Golden step into the elevator while hugging Pansy in his arms without turning his back. She couldn't help smiling with self-mockery.

Suddenly, she collected herself and noticed that she was here for the contract. She calmed down herself and then walked to the front of that oily old man.

She took out a contract from her bag and then handed it to him with a pen, "Mr. Chang, please sign the contract. I really need the medicine."

"Hold on! Are you Mrs. Barrett? I heard that actually Mr. Barrett had already got married. And I also know that he owns a medical company and he has a lot of stock of the medicine you need. Why don't

you ask him for the medicine but you come to me instead? Mrs. Barrett, if you are trying to play some tricks on your husband, please don't get me involved! And don't ever come to me again! Please!"

Mr. Chang couldn't help trembling with fear when he thought of the gossips that Golden was actually a cold-blooded man who was cruel to his enemy.

Though he was not sure if Margery was the wife of Golden, he couldn't afford to take the risk.

No matter how lustful he was, he could never afford to pester Mrs. Barrett.

At this moment, he didn't deem Margery as a ravishing sweet beauty anymore. Instead, he now viewed her like a monster. He couldn't help stepping backwards with his trembling legs. Then he turned around and ran away. Even Margery herself didn't expect that a fat guy like him could run so fast.

When seeing that, Margery sighed.

She was aware that Golden would never offer her the medicine as he hated her so much.

She had been trying so hard for the whole night and she had been suffering from retch for hours! She almost damaged her own body. But she still failed to get the contract signed. Every effort she made was in vain.

Whatever, Margery decided to go back home first.

She put the contract into her handbag. While she was walking down the long corridor of the bar, someone suddenly touched her shoulder.

Margery turned around with surprise.

An incredibly charming face of a man suddenly caught her eyes, where there also showed a trace of worry. But Margery chose to ignore it.

"Melvin Collins?" she frowned. Suddenly, she took steps back to keep a distance from him as if she seemed to think of something weird.

When seeing her move, Melvin felt his heart aching.

The cold and fake marriage between Margery and Golden really brought a great impact on her.

Though she didn't fall in love with Melvin before, she still viewed him just like her loving brother at that time. She always loved to talk to him and shared anything she experienced. But now, she tried her best to avoid seeing him just as if she were bumping into a bag of garbage. She tried all means to keep away from him every time she saw him.

When seeing her wrinkled jacket and her pale face, Melvin seemed to be outrageous as the vein on his forehead started to twitch fiercely.

He raised his head and was about to touch her pale face, which stung his heart. Suddenly, he saw her stepping back again, which rendered him quite frustrated. So he put down his hand and clenched his fists while his arms were hanging loosely beside his thighs. He asked worriedly, "What happened to you? I just saw Golden walking out of the bar with a coquettish movie star in his arms. What did he do to you? You are Golden's wife! Tell me, did he bully you again?"

"It's none of your business."

She was still wearing a poker face just like Golden, and it looked even colder than his, which rendered Melvin quite mad. He frowned angrily and tried to touch her face again, "I know it's none of my business if you were living with him happily. But if not, I have to defend you!"

Margery tilted her head to avoid being touched. She said casually, "I know I will probably divorce Golden. But it's impossible for me to fall in love with you!"

"Impossible? Once you divorce, I will definitely marry you aboveboard!"

Margery still ignored him and turned around to walk towards the elevator calmly.

After drinking so much and having a wry talk with Golden, Margery now only fancied a nice sleep.

"Margery, wait!"

Melvin followed her behind.

When she got out of the bar, she walked towards as fast as she could. However, she happened to kick a little stone on the roadside and she suddenly sprained her left ankle. So she had to slow down her pace. She needed to stop after taking a few steps forward. But she still gasped for air because of the acute pain.

"Stop! Let me see your ankle!" Original from NôvelDrama.Org.

While speaking, Melvin rushed over. He squatted down and held her left foot. Then he was about to take off her shoe to check carefully.

Margery withdrew her feet immediately. Suddenly, she seemed to explode out of shame and humiliation. She pushed him hard and shouted, "Enough! Stop annoying me!"

"Am I annoying you? Or are you being annoyed because of Golden?"

Melvin covered his shoulder because of pain. He felt so sad that he failed to utter to confess how pain he felt from the bottom of his heart, "Margery, it has been three years! He has been so cold and indifferent to you! Aren't you enough with that? Don't be silly! He doesn't love you at all! He never keeps you in his heart! He married you just because of his beloved one! Don't be stupid! Stop fooling yourself!"

"Stop!"

Margery's mind was rendered messy. While she was standing still, Melvin wrapped her waist with his hot and strong arms. He held her tightly against his warm chest.

"Margery, just divorce him. Come back to me, okay? I really regret doing that!" Melvin sneered bitterly while smelling the fragrant scent of her hairs. He tightened his hug as if he were so eager to cling to her for a lifetime.

If it weren't for the dirty plot of Golden, he would never have had sex with Norma Barrett, the cousin of Golden, when he was drunk. And then it was Margery who saw both of them on the bed.

Then, Golden forced her to married himself but he hated her so much after marriage. At the thought of that, Melvin couldn't help burning with rage.

"No! There's no way back! Melvin, I have deemed you a brother of mine! But you should know the reason why I promised to be your girlfriend at that time. Now, since I married him and gave birth to Andrew, I am satisfied with it! I have once lost my family. I don't want my son to suffer from the same thing again! So I have to move on, gritting! No matter how many difficulties are expecting me." Margery broke free from his grip. A bitter smile appeared on her pale face. She teetered to the crossroad and hailed a taxi. As she got into it, she started to recall the day when she got a crush on Melvin.

She once suffered from obesity at the age of fifteen. She was so fat that she looked like a funny balloon. All her classmates mocked her and disdained her. When she was on her way home after school one day, a group of haters stopped her in a dark alley and started to beat her. Soon, her glasses were broken and her ears started to bleed because of heavy slap.

Her head was bleeding and her clothes was almost ripped off. She could only curl up her own body on the ground weakly. Tears streamed down her face. She was exceedingly desperate.

Suddenly, those who beat her started to scream out of pain.

She opened her eyes, stunned. She saw a cold and elegant boy show up in the dark with her eyes blurred with blood. He was so brave that he looked like Hercules coming from nowhere.

It was at that moment that her heart was captured while she almost drowned out of depression.

It was Golden! It was he who had once saved her!

It didn't matter to her whether he loved her. She herself was sure that she still loved him deeply. And that would be enough.

In a corner of the street, Golden, who was leaning against the door of his car under the dim streetlight, kept smoking while holding the cigarette with his slender fingers. No one could tell what he was thinking at this moment.

He stared at Melvin and Margery, who were clinging to each other at the gate of the bar. His eyes looked deadly cold as he seemed to notice that they were talking to each other intimately.

He then crushed the butt with his foot and hopped into the car. He stroked the steering wheel and then suddenly stepped on the gas hard.

He drove his car all the way at full speed.
