Chapter 1225
Nash had proposed several solutions for Quincy to consider, leaving the final decision to him.
Shortly after, the meeting ended, and Quincy returned to his office, reflecting on everything that had happened. He massaged his temples, feeling the weight of exhaustion on his shoulders.
"Quincy! I heard something serious happened with the company. Are you okay?" Lydia burst into the office, clearly worried.
"What are you doing here?" Quincy instinctively tried to hide his fatigue, not wanting her to see how worn out he was. "Didn't I tell you there's no need to come to the office every day? It's no good if you tire yourself out." Seeing him forcing a smile despite his exhaustion, Lydia's frustration flared up. "Stop pretending with me!"
"I heard everything on the way here," Lydia continued, her voice tinged with anger and concern. "They're saying that many of our partners have backed out, and the company might face a financial crisis. Why didn't you tell me any of this?"
Her frustration stemmed from more than just the situation. It was his attitude that hurt her most. He hadn't told her anything, clearly not wanting her to be involved in his problems. Did he even see her as part of his life? The hurt in Lydia's eyes was unmistakable, and it was something Quincy could no longer ignore.
His chest tightened as he turned her around by the shoulders, realizing how wrong he had been. "You're right, it's my fault. I shouldn't have kept things from you. Please, give me another chance."
"This is the last time. If you hide things from me again, I won't forgive you," Lydia warned, her eyes slightly red. Even though her tone was stern, there was a hint of playfulness in her gaze, like she couldn't stay mad at him for long. Quincy didn't dare take her words lightly and quickly nodded in agreement.NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.
After calming Lydia down, Quincy explained everything that had happened over the past few days, including Nash's suggestions from the meeting.
When he finished, Lydia's expression shifted from anger to worry. "It's that bad? Does this mean the company's cash flow won't hold up? If so, let me put in some of my savings to help..."
""No," Quincy interrupted firmly, cutting her off before she could finish.
While he was usually willing to listen to Lydia, this was one thing he wouldn't compromise on.
"If I use your money, then everything I've worked for and the whole reason I started this company, will be meaningless," Quincy explained resolutely.
"But right now..."
"I'll handle the company's problems. We already have plans in place." His tone was calm yet decisive, leaving no room for argument.
Seeing how adamant he was, Lydia reluctantly gave up on the idea of using her savings to help.
However, since the company was a joint venture between the two of them, she couldn't just sit back and do nothing while it faced a crisis. Over the next few days, Lydia made a point of coming into the office almost every day to support Quincy and the business.
This didn't go unnoticed by her parents, who were growing increasingly unhappy with how little time she spent at home, especially with her daughter.
One day, when Lydia returned home to grab something, her parents stopped her.
"Why are you always running off? Is it because you still haven't broken things off with that assistant?" Mrs. Fay asked pointedly.
"Mom." Lydia frowned, pausing in
her tracks. "I'm an adult now. I can choose where I go and who I spend time with. You and Dad have been controlling my life for so long. Can

stop?"
Mrs. Fay's face flushed with anger. "How can you say that! Everything we do is for your own good. Don't you realize that?"
A bitter smile crept onto Lydia's lips.
This was the same argument her parents had used to control her for years. Everything they did, they claimed, was for her benefit. Parents always had their children's best interests at heart, or so they said.
But what had she really gained from all of it? Before she met Quincy, most of what she had wanted in life had slipped through her fingers.
She felt like a princess trapped in a castle, owning everything yet having nothing.
Looking into Mrs. Fay's eyes, filled with disappointment and frustration, Lydia took a deep breath. "I just came back to grab something. If you don't want to see me, I'll leave right away."
