Chapter 84
The weekend was full of pleasant moments and memories but somehow Sydney didn’t feel like she wasn’t getting or rather giving in much attention to Jaxton as he does.
Today was a Sunday afternoon and she was on her period going to her cabinet she realised there were no pads left.
“Ahh, how could I forget to get these when I went there just a few days back ” she scolded herself.
Sydney walked out of the house and took her car to the grocery store.
She went to the feminine section and picked out the pads fn aunty liners and other toiletries she would need for the period she would be flowing.
As she was at it she realised she heard a voice and she could not say otherwise because it was Paxton and he wasn’t alone either.
He was with another woman Sydney had never seen or heard of and she felt jealous for a bit.
“Hey Paxton” Sydney greeted but didn’t acknowledge the woman.
With the way, he was always where she was Sydney began to feel Paxton was being where she was on purpose and she wasn’t liking it.
“What did you come to get?” he asked as he realised the air was tense.
“I came to get some toiletries, it’s that time of the month as you can see,” Sydney said.
“Oh I came to get some toiletries myself ” he explained.
The lady standing by Paxton was trying to enter the conversation.
“Did you choose the software pads they are so good for the skin?” the lady said with a smile.
“I didn’t choose those I have the brand I use” Sydney, responded being polite but her facial expressions looked and spoke of something else.
Paxton could sense the strain in the corridor where they were standing.
“Oh Paxton, is this Sydney? I’ve heard so much about you, he wouldn’t let me rest with your name and how much he admires you” Lydia the lady standing by Paxtonj muttered with a smile.
Shocked hearing this because she didn’t think he would have the time of day to tell people about her.
“Oh, I hope they were good things he said about me though” she answered.
“I’ll go and drop you off,” Paxton said.
“No don’t, I don’t want to bother you and your guest and I brought my car too” she stopped him in his track.
Sydney went home angry and she didn’t know if she was having the mood swings from her period mood swings or if it was just normal anger towards the woman she knew nothing about.
The evening was all spoiled hence, she went to the bathroom and took an evening bath before going to bed.
Her cramps were bad but she went to the office.
When Paxton realised she had come he went to her office and greeted but she gave him a cold reply and continued her work.
Paxton knew Stdney was mad but he didn’t know why.
“Ms Sydney can you come to my office now?” he spoke through the phone and Sydney made herself available.
“I’ve been talking for the past minutes Sudney and you are yet to give me an idea or positive response is anything the matter?” Patton asked her.
“Nope, nothing is the problem” she responded coldly still.
“Yesterday I know my cousin wouldn’t let you rest with her blubber mouth she was just excited to meet you for the first time,” Pacton said to her and when Sydney heard this she kind of felt bad she had thought bad about the young lady.
“Lydia was your sister?” She asked with a hint of shock and disappointment in her voice.
“I hope she didn’t think I was rude when I responded to her yesterday,” She said mentally face-palming herself as she remembered the moment Lydia had suggested a pad brand and she was fast to hit back without listening.
“No, she understood you were going through something so she knows people have bad days,” Paxton said.
“Oh I would love to meet her someday still” She finally said.
“And she would love to meet you one day too, so can we get back to work?” Paxton asked her.
“Yes, we can” She replied with a smile and he realised that her mood had changed and she was now the Sydney he knew and he knew she was jealous.
But why was she jealous he could feel that she wanted to say something but she was saying nothing at all and that was making him angsty.
How could he have fallen in love with his brother’s girlfriend?
“Maybe you could just come to my house for dinner with her, it would be great to do that,” she said out of the blue.
“Oh I guess she would like to come to see you, so can you focus on the work we are having now?” Patton asked with a smile.
“But first of all, I want you to know that we would be going somewhere on Friday evening so we would have to schedule it later than 7 PM, is that okay?” he asked.
“Of course it’s fine”
Sydney knew that she could not force them to do what they didn’t want to do but she wanted to make up for the way she acted at the store.© 2024 Nôv/el/Dram/a.Org.
Sydney was relieved Paxton didn’t have anything to do with Lydia she was so excited.
How come Jaxton had never told her about this cousin of theirs?
She went to her office and then sat down as she smiled at nothing, in particular, she was just excited at what had happened in his office.
“Drive home safe,” Paxton said as she passed by his office in the evening going home.
“Thank you, Paxton you too don’t work late,” she said to him.
“I wouldn’t stay out too long don’t bother yourself okay,” Paxton said and Sydney left.
