Chapter 45 Today is My Birthday
Chapter 45 Today is My Birthday
It’s almost time to punch out Becca finally revised her design draft on the computer, only leaving the
last step of coloring unfinished.
Her design adopted irregular overlapping hems of the skirt, with short front and long rear as well as
layers of yarn extending from the front part of the skirt to the back of the body to form a trailing tail.
Almost every girl, during her girlhood, was looking forward to wearing a trailing wedding dress in the
church step by step towards their loved ones.
Becca was not tall. Last time Alber’s design for her wedding dress was the style with the hem of the
dress right falling on the ground, so she had to wear high-heeled shoes, carrying the skirt hem. So, this
time, she would deliberately circumvent these inconveniences and design the hem of a wedding dress
even a short girl could also wear.
The upper body was with a shoulder design and the sleeves was deliberately tightened with some
additional patterns, which could make the chubby arm unseen. And the three-dimensional yarns were
wrapped around the midriff. In this way, even a plumper girl would wear it without pressure and would
never affect its beauty.
The secret of a maiden--Every woman, whether short or fat, tall or thin, has her own maiden age, who
rules that a maiden must be perfect?
Tapping the palette on the screen, Becca was ready to color and paint the design draft, but she didn’t
expect a power failure. The computer screen suddenly went out at this moment, and the whole office
fell into darkness.
"The power failure?" Janet surprised. "Five minutes to go. Is this pushing us off?"
"My design is not finished yet." Becca felt very upset.
"The software is automatically saved anyway, and it's the same for you to continue tomorrow." Janet
said and began to pack her own things.
Other colleagues also kept packing things away, Becca had no way and also did not know when to
come the call. She had nothing to do but pack things to leave the office.
"I tell you, Becca, I will design an orange wedding dress this time." she said excitedly as she walked.
"You know, I like orange best. When it comes to our teenage years, I can't help but think of the orange
soda, bright color, exciting taste..."
Janet smiled brightly and Becca was also infected by her. The two walked out of the company together
but met an uninvited guest at the door.
"Becca." Not having seen for a few days, Albert was more emaciated than last time.
The smile on Becca's face disappeared, and she pulled Janet to one side, as if they did not see Albert.
"Becca, I've been waiting for you here for a long time." Albert followed up, "I know you don't want to see
me, but, for the sake of our past five years, can you give me a chance to have a good chat?"
"Becca has nothing to talk with you." Janet got angry when she saw Albert. "Bastard, you'd better go
talk to your ‘dear Laura’."
"Becca." Albert blocked their way. "Just for once, I came for the sake of cooperation between our
families. I just want to talk to you."
Becca stopped.
John Garcia’s words in the morning were still lingering. Everything owned by the Garcia now was all
the efforts that her mother had made. It would be a regret to see these efforts in vain. But…
"Albert." Becca looked at him, "If the Garcia and the Davis can reach a cooperation, it is, of course a
win-win cooperation. After all, these are what my mother had been striving for. As her daughter, I have
the duty to take over my mother’s career. But now I have been broken ties with the Garcia. Therefore, it
had nothing to do with me whether they die or live. Although it is a pity to see the Garcia go bankrupt,
but you know me, to my personality, I'd rather watch it rot there than satisfy those disgusting people. "
"Besides, I no longer need to rely on the Garcia, and when I rise high in life, I will take back everything
on my own way, so thank you for your kindness." After that, Becca turned and left.
"Becca." Albert called her nickname.
Becca did not turn back, but found people around to look over toward her, and she turned again, to see
Albert kneeling on the ground.
"What are you doing?" His move had attracted a lot of attention, and Becca had to stop.
"Becca, I don't intend to ask you to forgive me, but for the sake of our past five years of affection, shall
we not become in such a distant relationship? Even if we can't go back to the old days, give me a
chance. Let's have a complete ending between us." Albert said, with tears in his eyes.
"Please stand up." Becca approached him by two steps.
"Becca, today is my birthday. Could you please have dinner with me. After today, I will never bother you
again, OK?" Albert spoke to her in a tone that was almost pleading.
Becca stood still...
‘Yeah, she almost forgot, it's Albert's birthday. she had been carefully preparing every birthday to him
for the last five years, and this year, if his affair didn’t happen, they should be in the middle of the
honeymoon on the beach in the Maldives.’
"Don't listen to him, Becca." Janet came to stop him. "Who knows what's wrong with him?" Becca
looked down at Albert, kneeling on the ground, with her thousands of sorrows.
‘The last time he knelt to her, he proposed. She thought she was the happiest girl in the world, but in
just one month, everything was totally different.’
"You get up first, and there are so many people watching us here." Becca compromised.
"So you promised me?" Albert exulted.
She nodded.
‘After all, she loved him for five years, just to bury her five years. And she and Albert really needed a
ceremonial end.’
Albert rose up and patted himself on the knee, taking the dust off.
"Becca." Janet looked at her with concern.
"I’m fine. you go back first." Becca clapped Janet’s hand to reassure her, "It's a matter sooner or later."
"Fine." Janet had no choice. "Then You can call me whenever you need anything."
Becca said yes, waving her, goodbye, and then followed Albert into his car.

The light came back after the call in Becca’s office--the third floor of this building, and it fell into
darkness again, leaving only a glimmer of light in a small corner of the third floor.
Kelvin looked downstairs for a while and walked toward the elevator entrance.
"It's already been checked, and it may be someone who accidentally pulled the switch." Bill reported
this incident to Kelvin.
Kelvin kept his silence, walked into the elevator, and pressed the third floor. A few seconds later, the
elevator stopped, when he was just about to step out, he saw Laura Garcia standing outside.
"Master... Master Lewis?" Laura looked a little nervous, "What reason for you to come here?"
Kelvin squinted his eyes and looked behind her and found that on the third floor it was completely dark.
Nobody worked here...
"I heard that there's a power outage here, so I come here to have a look." Kelvin replied. All rights © NôvelDrama.Org.
"Oh, I..." Laura said, a bit flustered, "Yes. What I said just now is all true"
"Why is Miss Laura still here? Isn't it all employees off duty?" Bill asked, "And aren't you supposed to
be on the fifth floor?"
Laura’s face became pale, trying to smile, "I... I walked the last, thinking to see if all electrical
appliances are turned off."
The elevator's timeout sounded, and Laura stepped in But Kelvin retreated to the other side.
Kelvin pressed the button of the first floor, and in an instant, none of the three people spoke.
Clasping hands, Laura’s tension overflows in words. "Master Lewis, can I ask you a question? Actually,
I have had this question for you for a long time."
She nibbled her bottom lip, with a red face, and she looked very attractive.
However, Kelvin completely did not watch her.
"Yes." Kelvin answered.
"I'm a mediocre designer, and I'm not talented at all. Why do you attach so much importance to me?"
She knew her own strength very much, but facing such an excellent man, she would still have some
unrealistic fantasy.
With the elevator down to the first floor, Kelvin took the lead and walked out, Laura still followed him
step by step, with great care.
"There are a lot of great designers in the Heyday Group." Kelvin walked a few steps and stopped at the
door of the building, "But the person I truly love is the only one.
