Chapter 15: Take Responsibility for Her? She’s Not Worth It!

“Allison?”

Lawrence frowned when Allison had suddenly occurred to him, and after looking up and shooting a

glance towards the clock, he tossed the report in his hand into the bin and scooped up his coat while

rising to his feet.

When he had just reached the door, his phone which was nested in his pocket rang timely.

His complexion simmered down silently after he had peeked at the caller ID, and he proceeded to walk

out from the office while picking up the call.

“Hello? Are you still busy now, Lawrence? Cough! Cough…”

“No, I’m not. I’ll come over now. Has the doctor dropped by?”

“I’m fine. It’s just that I’m running a fever again somehow although the doctor has come by during noon.

You don’t have to pay me a visit if you are busy.”

“Not at all. Nothing is important than you.”

“Alright then, I’ll wait for you.”

After Allison had hung up on Lawrence, the smile on her lips slowly faded as her grip on the phone

tightened.

She stared coldly at her subordinate whom was standing in front of her as she asked, “Have you run a Content held by NôvelDrama.Org.

background check on the woman whom is being left in Lawrence’s room under his order to make the

antidote this afternoon?”

“Yes, she’s Charlotte Garcia, the eldest daughter of the Garcia family from the south of City B. She has

returned recently after leaving City B with someone else five years ago, and the reason as to why she

is with Mr. Harris is due to her saving Ms. Emma from being kidnapped by human traffickers down in

the lobby.”

Allison narrowed her eyes while taking in the information, and her stunning face was gradually clouded

with frigidness under the light as she ordered in a tone that was manifested with menacing iciness,

“Continue digging further, and find out whether she is Lawrence’s former acquaintance or the woman

whom has left him five years ago. Keep me posted on any update.”

Lawrence was never the kind of person whom would act recklessly despite being drugged.

If it was purely an accident, Allison would not get to the bottom of the incident that had happened this

afternoon, but if it was not… She would not put up with anyone whom was trying to get involved

between her and Lawrence at this critical point of time.

She shot a quick glance towards the time after giving her order and immediately looked up to the

doctor whom was sitting not far away from her with her lips quirked up, “Let’s begin. Lawrence is

almost here, so if you do not manage to make me come down with a cough and have a temperature,

how am I supposed to justify myself in front him and make him feel sorry for me?”

Allison was coughing relentlessly while lying on the bed in the suite when Lawrence had arrived, and

he could even hear her distressful and incessant groans as if she was terribly sick.

She was even weeping which had caused her messy hair to stick to her face, and her circumstance

was such a pitiful and heartbroken sight to take in.

Lawrence cast aside his coat and bent over to touch her with his hand, and his brows instantly

furrowed when he had detected her abnormally high temperature, “Why didn’t you send her to the

hospital right after you found her have got high fever?!”

The doctor hurriedly explained when he saw that Lawrence was about to make a phone call, “Don’t

worry too much, Mr. Harris. Even though Ms. Miller’s condition is more acute due to her suffering from

emotional shock, she is just down with a common flu, and all she needs is just some rest after taking

some medicine and shots.”

Lawrence frowned upon hearing his advice, “What shock?”

“Precisely. Ms. Miller has been crying non-stop after getting wind of you being drugged and having a

girl in your room this afternoon, and it is due to anxiousness and emotional shock that her condition is

unstable…”

“Who has such a loose tongue?”

When Allison had discerned the ghastly look on Lawrence’s face that indicated that he was about to fly

into a rage, she abruptly floundered about in her bed and sat straight up after a few seconds while

grabbing his hand and said, “Don’t blame them, Lawrence.”

“Incidents that are out of your control are bound to happen sometimes, and since it has come to this, I

will respect your decision no matter what you have chosen. If you want to be responsible for that girl, I

can step back to fulfill your wish. I will talk with your grandmother about our wedding, and we shall

break up peacefully…”

Her movement was big enough that the loosely fitted pajamas which she was attired in had slid down

at that moment, and her heavily dotted arm that was covered with countless pinpricks was instantly

revealed underneath her clothes.

It was as if these glaring scars were a clear embodiment of her sacrifice for him and companionship

throughout all these years.

Lawrence’s face darkened even further when his eyes were set on Allison’s arm. The scene of

Charlotte repeatedly admitting to her guilt while kneeling in the pouring rain suddenly crossed his mind,

and his gaze was soon silently set on Allison’s face again.

He curled his lips into a sardonic smile after a few moments while scoffing, “To be responsible for her?

How could she be worthy of my attention?”

He had never given Allison any explanation regarding this matter, but he tightened his grip on her

hands as he made a solemn promise to her, “I will only recognize you as my wife, and I promise that I

will marry you. I have already ordered Jeffery to set about preparing for it. Let’s get engaged,

Alice.”
