Chapter 667
Chapter 667 Time to Have a Chat
It'd been a day since.
"I found him. He's planning to leave the country, but your men and mine have detained him," Michael said.
Michael had been intending to visit him when Chloe was out of the house, but with Chloe always at home, he couldn't find an excuse to leave. Now that Candy had taken Chloe out for a day of fun, Michael had the chance to confront the man.
James rose from the sofa. "Let's go. Time to have a chat."
In certain respects, James far surpassed Michael.
After all, Michael had only operated domestically, and despite his ruthless methods, some things were still constrained by the law.
James, on the other hand, had spent most of his life abroad and had seen more dead than alive in the military. He had no compassion for scum like this. Michael glanced at James' still bandaged waist. "Are you sure you can manage? I don't want Chloe thinking I'm bullying you."
James snorted. "Rookie, do you think I'm you?"
James thought, "Don't even talk about just having had surgery. Even if I were shot, I'd still outlast Michael.
He's just a spoiled kid living in the city, and he looks down on me?
He hasn't even had to handle a gun properly yet."
The two men, dressed in black and white, respectively, left the house and drove off.
Meanwhile, Candy and Chloe arrived at the restaurant, which was indeed much more stylish and better designed than any they had seen back in the country.
The server led them to a private room and handed them menus.
"Chloe, order whatever you want. This meal's on Wesley!" Candy announced.
Though Wesley wasn't present, he had insisted that since he hadn't treated Chloe to a proper meal since arriving in Mamaica, he would cover the cost of this one. Candy was delighted; why not use the man's money?
Chloe smiled but only ordered two dishes according to her appetite.
Candy added a few more items to

the order. Once the server had left, she rested her chin on her hand and asked Chibe, "So, how's life in Mamaica been for you? I've been so busy with Wesley that I haven't had time to catch up."
Since their last meeting at the café, Candy hadn't seen Chloe again.
Chloe blinked. "I've already met with the Miller family. They're really nice people. If I want to reconnect with my roots, it shouldn't be a bad thing."
Candy's eyes widened in surprise. "The Miller family? You're a Miller?"
She thought, "How did I not know about this? I didn't hear a thing!"
Chloe explained, "I didn't mention it earlier because you were busy with Wesley I'm actually the child of my dad's
mother and Daxton, not my my
biological child." This text is property of Nô/velD/rama.Org.
Candy found this a bit confusing. "So, you've always been part of the Miller family? Why didn't your mother bring you back sooner? She just watched you struggle all these years!"
When Wendy was ill and hospitalized, Chloe had barely made it through.
If not for her marriage to Michael and the 600 million from Admas, she might have died along with Wendy.
Had Wendy revealed the truth back then, Chloe wouldn't have found herself entangled with Michael.
"My mom has gotten pregnant with me by accident, she never wants to bring it up," Chloe said. Chloe didn't blame Wendy.
It wasn't just that Wendy had suffered a deep emotional blow from being pushed into another's bed by Charles and later dealing with infidelity.
Even if Wendy had been a strong and normal person, Chloe wouldn't have held it against her for not revealing her true identity.
It was a dark Chapter of Wendy's life, and Chloe felt more sadness and compassion than resentment.
Seeing Chloe's reaction, Candy realized that Chloe was hurting and tried to reach out to comfort her.
But as soon as her hand touched Chloe's, Chloe withdrew it.
This was the second time today.
