A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 59 Cold-blooded and Merciless

“Get in the car!” Brendon said, his thin lips slightly parted.

Ranita didn’t move her feet.

She glanced at him and spoke, “Thank you, Mr. Stuart. I’ll take care of myself.”

Brendon’s tone was domineering as he said, “Get in the car now. Don’t make me say it a third time.”Property belongs to Nôvel(D)r/ama.Org.

Ranita had been working with him for years and knew that he meant what he said. If she didn’t get in the car now, he might just drag her inside himself!

This was Sugar Media’s entrance and if Shannon or Holly saw them arguing like this, it would only cause more trouble!

But Ranita really didn’t want to ride with Brendon.

He could act like nothing happened but she couldn’t! Sometimes she felt that Brendon was too cold-blooded and ruthless. They had argued about something last night but today he acted like nothing happened.

“Mr. Stuart, I’m going back to the studio which may not be on your way,” Ranita said firmly.

Seeing that Ranita still refused to get into the car, Brendon stretched out his long legs and put his fingers on the door handle saying, “Then let me personally invite you?”

See? Ranita knew she wasn’t wrong about him!

Ranita was so angry that her heart pounded heavily but also worried they were wasting time since someone from Sugar Media might come out any minute now. She quickly opened the door and got in.

“Bang!” The door slammed shut a little too hard, showing how unhappy she was with this situation.

Brendon looked at her calmly as if nothing had happened before saying, “The door is broken so your salary for this month is gone.”

“Thank you!” Ranita gritted her teeth and squeezed out the two words.

Sitting on the far end, with a large distance between her and Brendon, Ranita didn’t speak or even look at him. The silence made the atmosphere tense.

Ranita held her breath, but Brendon was as still as a mountain. He rarely showed his emotions on his face, so it was impossible to tell whether he felt awkward or not.

In the end, Ranita gave in. Unable to bear the silence any longer, she broke it by asking, “Mr. Stuart, what can I do for you? I’ll send over the information later…”

Before she could finish speaking, Brendon interrupted with two simple words, “Let’s eat.”

What? He wanted to have lunch with her?

Ranita suddenly didn’t know what to say.

The next second she heard Brendon say, “First time seeing you wear pants at work. Not bad.”

Ranita often wore professional attire that accentuated her straight legs under tight skirts that would make anyone take a second glance! Although Brendon had some reservations about how she dressed up for work like that, he never intervened since Ranita liked dressing up this way.

“Thank you.” Ranita replied dryly.

Meanwhile she was texting back and forth with Olivia, “Have you contacted Mia yet?”

“No! I’m freaking out here! I don’t know if something happened to her! But I can’t reach her on phone either!”

“I even contacted Mr. Merrill but he said he couldn’t get in touch with her either.”

Ranita remembered Shannon and Holly’s words, and she had a bad feeling in her heart. “Olivia, keep in touch. Let me know the news as soon as possible!” She paused for a moment before adding, “Go to her office and check it out…”

“What are you doing?” Suddenly, a man’s deep voice exploded in her ear. It was close, and the heat wrapped around her skin with warmth, instantly turning it red.

Her spine also tensed up.

“Look at your phone since you got into the car.”

“It’s nothing…” Ranita wanted to put away her phone but accidentally dropped it under the seat with a clatter. Brendon picked up the phone faster than she did.

In just a moment, his eyebrows furrowed coldly as he looked at her differently.
