Chapter 47 Christopher, I Think You’re in Danger

“Bang!”

An hour later, Christopher kicked a door open—it was a VIP room that belonged to him at Denzel’s

private clubhouse. The waiter brought in some wine a moment later, and Denzel came in as well.

“Christopher, whatever’s the matter with you again? Goodness; my poor door…” Denzel bent over to

check on the door while he sighed with a sense of heartache. “Gosh, what did the door do to you? Look

at it—it’s broken! You’d better compensate me for this.”

“Hand me the wine,” Christopher ordered the waiter as he ignored the whining Denzel. However, even

before the waiter could hand him the wine bottle and glass, he impatiently took a bottle of wine for

himself. As soon as he opened the bottle, he guzzled it down straight away.

Denzel had just straightened when he looked at Christopher’s actions in shock. “What are you doing?

What’s the matter? What did Queenie do to you again? Isn’t she recovered, though? She should be in

the hospital now, right? Speaking of, why aren’t you with her?”

Denzel was still blabbering on when a shining glass flew straight toward his face.

“Shut the hell up!”

“Holy sh*t!”

Denzel yelled and he quickly dodged it. Before he could even get his footing, he heard the sound of the

glass shattering on the floor.

“Thank goodness my face’s safe!” Denzel mumbled as he patted his chest. He then went to

Christopher’s side and ordered the waiter to clean up the mess. Sitting down next to him, Denzel

stared at Christopher silently while the latter guzzled the whole bottle of wine.

It was only when the latter slammed the wine bottle on the table that Denzel started to venture, “Young

Master Wayne, can you tell me what’s wrong with you, my lord?”

Christopher did not bother to reply. Instead, he threw the empty bottle to one side and opened another.

This time, however, he poured the wine into the wine glass instead of guzzling it.

“Is everything all right with Queenie?” Denzel asked again. Still, Christopher ignored him once again

and it was as if he was invisible. Without giving him even so much as a side glance, Christopher

continued to drink his wine.

Feeling defeated by his silent treatment, Denzel frowned while he stared at Christopher's gloomy side

profile. “Or is it because of… that wife of yours?” he finally asked.

Just as his words left his mouth, the person beside him finally reacted and turned to look at him fiercely.

In all honesty, Christopher’s sinister gaze made Denzel break out in a layer of cold sweat.

“Uh… so I was right? Goodness, Christopher; I can’t believe you would actually go crazy because of a

woman who, I might add, is not even Queenie!” Denzel stood up as he shouted in disbelief and he

stared at Christopher with wide eyes.

However, his heart promptly broke at the thought of his door once more. “My door really just died with

injustice. Christopher, you—”

“Denzel, do you think I should agree to the divorce?”

“Huh?”

Denzel was stunned to hear that. He turned back from looking at his innocent door and returned to his

seat beside Christopher.

At that moment, Christopher started to toy with the stem of his crystal clear wine glass, making the dark

red liquid swirl gently.

“Are you… going to divorce Diane?”

The atmosphere seemed very heavy in the midst of Christopher’s silence—it was so heavy that Denzel

had to pour himself a glass of wine to soothe the depressing feeling.

Just as he took his first sip, he heard Christopher saying, “She is the one who wanted a divorce.” He

paused for a moment before he smiled mockingly “She’s done with using me now so she’s going to get

rid of me.”

Instead of saying he couldn’t stand Diane’s words, it would be better to say that he couldn’t stand the

sensible and calm expression she had when she spoke. She did not even look upset; moreover, she

looked like she could not wait to leave him. Ha! I’m the one who started this game, so who does she

think she is to end all of this?

As Christopher clutched the wine glass tightly, Denzel stared at the throbbing veins on the back of his

friend’s hand, worried that the wine glass would be the next victim to perish in his hands.

“So… as you said, Diane wants a divorce? And looking at your situation right now, you seem to not

want it?” Denzel asked. However, Christopher merely lowered his head and did not look at him. As

Denzel’s gaze fell on Christopher’s tightly clenched wine glass, he frowned.

“Wait—why don’t you want a divorce? Queenie is back and you have already figured out what

happened back then. Well, even if… even if it is not a suitable time for her to marry you now, don't you

still have feelings for her? Just get back together if that’s the case! After all, Diane was just a nobody

from the start so just let her—” However, before Denzel could finish his sentence, Christopher threw

him a fierce look, effectively cutting him off.

Unable to smooth it up from where he left over, Denzel choked on his own breath before continuing, “A-

Am I wrong, though?” The VIP room was bathed in orange light and he could see that Christopher’s

dark eyes were narrowed.

“You’re right. Absolutely right.” Christopher’s tone filled with unfathomable emotions as he spoke, and

Denzel could not get a grasp of what he was thinking.

“I love Queenie,” Christopher stared at him and added. “I owe her too and I should be with her. You’re

right.” Although Christopher acknowledged Denzel’s words, his eyes were cold. Denzel, on the other

hand, felt as if Christopher was staring at his enemy who had just said something annoying.

As soon as Christopher said these words, he turned away and raised his glass of wine, downing the

whole thing in one go. The luscious red wine elicited a few coughs from him as he drank it too quickly.

“Christopher, frankly speaking, I haven’t seen you in such a situation for so long. You didn’t even act

like this when Queenie left back then. You…” Denzel frowned and hesitated as he spoke. “It can’t be

that you’ve really fallen in love with Diane, right?”

Christopher looked at him deeply as he muttered coldly, “You’re thinking too much.”

“Then what are you venting about here?” Denzel slammed the table and asked, feeling rather irritated.

“Diane wants a divorce? Great for you! Just let her leave because you still have a long way to go

ahead. After all, the future is up to you to decide, Young Master Wayne. I doubt a woman like her can

escape from you. So now, you just have to take care of Queenie. End of story.”

Divorce… What a way to put it! Christopher stared at Denzel and the former’s gaze was complicated,

as if a thousand years’ worth of emotions was held within. After a long while, he said coldly, “In her

dreams! I won’t let her get away with what she wants.”

Denzel was stunned upon hearing that, and he shook his head and said, “I don’t understand you. What

are you even thinking?” He then raised his wine glass and took a sip casually. Just when he put down

his glass, Christopher took out his phone.

“Come pick me up. I’m at—” As Christopher spoke, he handed his phone to Denzel. Dumbfounded,

Denzel pulled back a little to take a look at the screen, only to realize that it was none other than Diane.

“No. 358 Layton Avenue, The Royal.” After he was done, he thoughtfully hung up the call for

Christopher and placed the phone back on the table before smiling at him.

“I think you’re in danger, my man.”

Christopher snorted softly without speaking a word. He then raised his glass and started drinking again.

Looking at him, Denzel decided not to say anything. He raised his glass to clink it with Christopher’s as

he muttered, “Let’s not talk about women anymore. You’re a great player anyway; I believe you won’t

let yourself die under the hands of a beauty. By the way, when do you plan to get rid of that brother of

yours?”

“No plans.” Christopher continued sipping his wine without lifting his head.

“No plans at all?” Denzel was shocked to hear that and he placed his glass on the table. Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.

“There’re so many properties under Evergreen Incorporated and he could go anywhere he wants, so

why does he want to come here? It’s all because you’ve made it big here in Fairview City and the main

businesses are all directed here—the branch has now become the headquarters. He was having a

good time out there while you worked hard on the business; now that you are successful, he took over

just like this. Isn’t it too easy for him?”

As Denzel went on and on, Christopher seemed absent-minded and he did not pay attention to

anything the former was saying. He looked at his phone, though it was hard to tell from his expression

just what he was looking at. Looking at how unconcerned Christopher was, Denzel adjusted his posture

to look him straight in the eye as he asked in a serious manner, “Even if you don’t care about your

business here in Evergreen Incorporated, what about the States? He is already here, Christopher.

Aren’t you afraid that he’ll know about it?”

Hearing Denzel’s question, Christopher finally reacted. He turned to look at Denzel and let out a

disdainful laugh.
