Chapter 44
Chapter 44 The Reasons for Her Hatred
Cedric tightened his grip on her wrist, and Natalie stopped struggling.
She looked at him and said, “Tell me, what significance does that place hold for me?”
Cedric narrowed his eyes. In the next moment, he stated firmly, “You know I won’t divorce you.”
The underlying message was clear. Cedric was telling Natalie that since she was aware of this, she
should stop trying to make trouble.
That was the best choice she could make right now.
In the past, Natalie would have complied.
But now, things were different.
Taking a deep breath, she said. “Then give me a reason to stay by the side of a man who wants me to
disappear for the sake of another woman!”
Cedric’s breath caught in his throat.
Isabella was now like a ticking time bomb between them. As soon as she was mentioned, an explosion
was guaranteed!
The two locked eyes. Cedric looked at the defiant woman, his disappointment growing. He thought about
how the public opinion in Verde City was shifting against her. Even those who had previously supported
her were now favoring Isabella.
“Do you even know what Verde City is like now? If this continues, you won’t be able to stay here anymore.”
Cedric warned.
That was a fact, especially if she didn’t have him protecting her.
Natalie retorted, “Don’t waste your time worrying about me, Cedric. My presence in Verde City doesn’t
matter. You know that.”
For the past few years, she had been living in Verde City solely because of the man in front of her.
She was only still in the city because she was waiting for the divorce
If they did indeed divorce, her connection to Verde City would cease to exist. She would be indifferent to
where she lived.
Though, of course…
Until she had sorted things out with Isabella, she wouldn’t leave. She wouldn’t mind if those people obtained what they wanted as long as it was within reason.
However, if they wanted to trample on her to get ahead, they had to go through her!
As Natalie had thought, the public opinion had gone completely wild. When Bianca returned home from work in the evening, she received several packages in Natalie’s name.
When Bianca called Natalie, the latter replied without hesitation, “Throw them all in the trash; don’t open
any of them.”
“Is it those things again?” Bianca asked.
“Yeah,” Natalie replied with a sigh.
She hadn’t expected those people to be so relentless and evil. She thought a few months abroad would
help her avoid such a predicament.
Who would have thought things would get even worse?
Natalie laid out all the documents Dylan had sent for everyone in a meeting. It gave everyone a better understanding of the development plans for the eastern suburbs.
“Let’s get to work,” Natalie said.
And once again, she immersed herself in her work.
The outside world was in turmoil, and the weather in Verde City was mirroring Natalie’s situation– gloomy and rainy.
Regardless of the chaos outside, Natalie remained focused on her work. She paid no attention to anything else.
As for the matter with Isabella, Stephen was helping with the investigation. He was also helping her with her business.
Right now, she had nothing else to worry about but her work. All she had to do was concentrate on her designs, which was the most significant way she could strike back against those who opposed her! *
Isabelle looked at her through bleary eyes. There was some redness around her eyes, apparently due to the bandages irritating her skin. She had blocked pores and mild inflammation, greatly affecting her formerly pristine and delicate appearance.
“Ced has been working late recently, so you should be more cautious,” Christina advised, implying that Isabella should even sleep with the bandages on to prevent a surprise visit from Cedric.
Isabella frowned when she heard this,
Women loved their beauty.
Seeing her skin deteriorate with acne due to the bandages made her feel quite irritated.
“When are they going to divorce?”
The division of labor between Isabella and Christina was clear.
Isabella was responsible for creating tension in Cedric’s life by pretending to be blind and
pressure on him from time to time.
putting
Christina, on the other hand, was responsible for pushing Natalie down from the position of the beloved
wife.
Originally, Cedric’s disappointment and realization that he had been mistaken about Natalie would have
been the time for their divorce.
But unexpectedly…!
Even with everything in turmoil and their relationship suffering a blow, they were still not divorced.
“You don’t want to continue pretending? That’s easy. Just do whatever it takes to blind that woman, and you won’t need to pretend anymore,” Isabella said.
Isabella’s expression eased when she heard that.
“I got it.”
Cedric seemed to have been considering the idea. Isabella only needed to put in a little more effort from her end.
The hospital’s disinfectant smell was nauseating, and Isabella didn’t want to stay there any longer. Seeing the determination in Isabella’s eyes, Christina realized her goal had been achieved.
However, she couldn’t resist asking one more question.
“Can you tell me why you hate Natalie so much? She and Ced have been living a quiet life together, so she
Christina didn’t particularly like Natalie, but she also knew her enemies quite well. After so many years. with Cedric, it was hard to find any fault with Natalie. If Cedric were to initiate a divorce, it would be
challenging to find a valid reason.
So, why did Isabella hate her so intensely?
Isabella’s face hardened at the question. Her eyes were filled with nothing but hatred.
“I despise her so much I wish I could tear her to pieces and feed her remains to the dogs!” Isabella
snapped, her words dripping with malice.
It was evident that her hatred ran deep.
However, Isabella didn’t reveal the true reason behind her intense animosity to Christina.
Their arrangement was strictly business–Christina wanted Natalie and Cedric to divorce, and Isabella. wanted Natalie to suffer a fate worse than death.
On Cedric’s end, he went out for dinner and returned to the office. The people in his real estate company were working tirelessly through the night.
As the deputy chairman, Cedric was closely monitoring the bidding situation. However, he was unaware that Natalie was grappling with the same issue.
Both of them were working tirelessly to prepare for the bid that was only three days away.
At five in the evening, Natalie and Karina examined the design drafts that several team members had worked on together in the studio.
“Hmm, the effect looks good. It blends well with the surroundings, and it’s quite prominent. It also showcases unique characteristics,” Karina commented. Content bel0ngs to Nôvel(D)r/a/ma.Org.
With her experience in Stephen’s business, her judgment was generally reliable.
“That’s enough for today. I’ll drop by Apex Global tomorrow and present it to their CEO for feedback before making any modifications, Natalie said.
Her words eased the tension, and everyone hurried to take a break. It was impossible to go home at this hour, but Karina had already arranged a resting area in the office.
“You should take a break as well,” Karina told Natalie.
Natalie nodded as she was exhausted. She had never worked such long hours, and her mind was beginning to feel scrambled.
