Chapter 265
Chapter 265 Am | Scary?
“At first, | thought that they were just being ridiculous, but now that | think about it, it made sense, in a weird way. Anyway, I’m used to being a nominee. This time | was nominated because of The Eternal Dance, right?”
Maia nodded.
“Right, then I’m pretty sure I’ll just be a nominee. According to those anti-fans, fantasy movies are illogical and boring. Furthermore, The Horizon Awards usually prefers movies based on real events.”
Spending a long time in the industry had not only made Hope an excellent actress, she had also developed an easy-going mindset. She could even make jokes about herself without feeling bad about it.
Maia smiled at Hope’s silly comments, “I’m sure many artists would be willing to do anything just to be able to attend this award ceremony.”
“You're right! | should stay positive! Even if | was just a nominee, | should be the best out of all of them!” Hope smiled and added with determination.
Maia’s smile deepened as she continued to stare at Hope.Content bel0ngs to Nôvel(D)r/a/ma.Org.
Shortly after, Hope asked if Maia knew who the main sponsor for this year’s Horizon Award
was. Maia did not.
“You really don’t know? Didn’t your secretary or your personal assistant tell you anything?” Hope asked incredulously. Maia shook her head, “Just tell me, who is it?”
“Well, it's Sunny Videos, HL Corporation’s subsidiary,” Hope said in a near—whisper.
After listening to Hope’s confession, she finally realized why Buck did not bother to mention. the main sponsor of such a huge event.
“Moreover, this year’s award show will be different from the previous years. It is going to be held at HL Corporate’s new resort. This resort is on a remote island, and all its guests are required to be there 2 days prior to the award ceremony. We will also be rewarded with a one- week, all expenses paid vacation on the island. That was why so many artists wanted to attend the award show!”
Maia gritted her teeth in anger, “Excellent! Buck is such a wonderful PA!” /
The reason he chose not to mention that Cedric was the main sponsor was so that she would attend the ceremony. There was no way Maia could change her mind after confirming her
attendance.
Maia could not help but wonder who Buck was actually working for as she was starting to question his loyalty.
Hope studied Maia’s expression closely and overheard her whispering to herself. She could guess what had transpired between them.
She immediately commented, “Maia, the reason | was nice to Mr. Cedric was also because | wanted to make life easier for everyone. | know perfectly well that when you filed for divorce, you wanted nothing to do with him anymore.
“Besides, you're so capable now, there’s nothing to fear. | think Buck had the same thoughts as well. He knew that you and Mr. Cedric were no longer a couple, so you wouldn't have cared if he was the sponsor for the event. That’s why Buck didn’t think that it was important to
mention it.” Maia looked at Hope approvingly as she commended, “I didn’t realize that you were this good with words.”
Hope stuck her tongue out playfully. It was all because of Buck that she had to come up with a convincing statement. “Of course, I'm just like you.”
“Aren't you thirsty?” Maia asked as she handed Hope a glass of water.
“Yes, please!” Hope nodded and finished the glass of water in one go while panting.
“| knew that you'd be thirsty after trying to cover for Buck.”
Hope choked on her water before setting the glass down and hugging her sister’s arm affectionately.
“Why don’t we take the evening off and look for gowns to wear for the award ceremony. | know a quiet place with beautiful dresses!”
Before Maia could respond, Hope had already dragged her out of her office. Maia had never seen Hope so eager, “How could we just leave in the middle of work?”
“This is part of work! We're leaving for the Horizon Awards tomorrow, yet we're still not prepared! We need to hurry!”
Maia studied Hope closely as a thought suddenly dawned on her. Hope might look like she was happy now, but she was acting like how she used to be. Trying to make the best out of a less-
than-ideal situation.
After realizing that fact, Maia chose to go along with Hope’s suggestion. They got into Hope's car and Hope drove them to the mysterious clothing store that she was talking about.
The store was located in a less populated area of Prismara. The clothing store had a storefront glass installation, but it did not have a store name to it.
“This store was opened last December. It looks really low-profile right?”
Maia nodded. Even though it had glass walls, they were not able to see the inside clearly. There were no dresses on display as well, and it was quite difficult to tell if the store was open or not. Passers—by would not usually notice such a store.
After Hope parked the car, she asked Maia, “Guess who owns the store? It’s own by Victoria Smith.” “Really?” Maia asked in surprise.
Hope nodded and smiled, “Yup! The famous Victoria Smith, who is known to have a volatile temper. She had also recently left the Smith family to fend for herself.”
“Do you know her personally?”
“| do. We're actually good friends. She may have a bad temper, but as long as you’re someone she likes, she'll treat you well. | met her when | was studying abroad. We went to the same university. She wanted to meet you. She thinks you're amazing!”
“So, does this mean that I’m also known as a scary person?”
Hope laughed aloud at Maia’s silliness. “Do you know just how much you've accomplished? You're just the kind of person that Vicky would like!”
“That must mean you have a bad temper too, right? Well, | guess that must be true. Since you are best friends with Victoria Smith, and you have a sister like me!”
