The Good Girl's Revenge

Chapter 614

Chapter 614

The doctor thought it over and still found that Meredith's phone call was very suspicious. He told Derek

about it while he came here for a routine examination.

"Mr. Xavier, someone who refused to tell me her name was asking me about the details of your injury.

Maybe there was a hidden agenda."

Derek frowned slightly at his words.

He was recuperating. It was reasonable that people speculated about his physical condition, but the

speculation had stopped recently. He didn't expect there would be another suspicious person inquiring

about him.

"Give me the person's number."

Derek decided to have it checked. He regarded his injury as a chance to check out who was planning

on taking over his position. He would get rid of them in time, preventing any trouble in the future.

The doctor nodded, wrote down the number on the paper, and handed it to Derek.

Derek took the paper. What he saw bemused him. His face was filled with disbelief.

There was no way that he would forget about this number. It was Meredith's phone number.

His strange expression made the doctor a little anxious. Could it be that this person really had some

bad intentions?

"Are you sure you remember it right?"

Derek couldn't believe his eyes. He couldn't even believe in Easton when he told him that Meredith

really cared about him.

He knew his son well. The boy would make up anything to get them back together.

Derek didn't want to be rejected by her again, so he didn't take any action.

He had his pride as well, which stopped him from begging for Meredith's love after being rejected so

many times.

However, the call from Meredith made him feel alive again.

"The number can't be wrong. I copied it from the phone."

The doctor shook his head and muttered to himself as he stared at Derek's face.

Why didn't Mr. Xavier look angry, but rather happy?

Who the hell was this woman on the phone? Why did Derek, who had always been as cold as ice, care

about her so much?

"Okay, I see. Thank you."

The last shred of suspicion disappeared in Derek's heart when he heard this. He couldn't wait any This content belongs to Nô/velDra/ma.Org .

longer to ask Meredith what was actually going on in her mind.

Fortunately, he still had some of his usual sanity. He remembered that Easton had promised to do

something to help him.

He had to find out what was going on first in case the two of them would say something contradictory

and make Meredith angry again.

With this thought, Derek called Easton first.

"Dad? Why did you call me? I was just thinking about visiting you tomorrow. Also, there's some good

news I want to share with you. Grandma's surgery was successful. Maybe she'll wake up tomorrow."

It was unexpected good news. Derek was overjoyed to hear that. Meredith would no longer have to be

so anxious about her mother. She could finally have a great rest.

However...

Evelyn's prerequisite hadn't been met. How was the surgery done?

Was there anything else he didn't know?

"It's hard to explain on the phone. Dad, I'll come to see you."

Derek agreed. He waited here in peace.

Easton arrived soon. "Dad, how are you feeling today?"

"Not bad. There's no need for you to worry about me. Tell me what's going on?"

Easton nodded and told Derek everything he knew.

Including that Ellie was Amelia's daughter. Easton knew it because they decided to announce their

relationship to others as soon as possible.

"In other words, Evelyn is not your grandmother's daughter at all. The imposter is always her?"

Easton nodded. "I'm afraid yes."

Derek pondered for a moment after hearing this. He didn't know what happened in the past that had

made things so complicated.

The good news was that Amelia's biological daughter is Ellie, who had no feelings for him. Meredith

wouldn't feel guilty and give up on him now.

"What exactly did you say to your mother the other day and made her ask about my condition?"

Derek asked the most important question after consideration.

His question made Easton a little embarrassed. "Well...You promise not to be angry at me first."

Derek glanced at Easton. Had the boy said something he shouldn't say again? How could he be so

scared?

"I told mom that your hand had been severely injured and that there might be some later effects. She

freaked out and came to you. I didn't mean to curse you, Dad. I just couldn't think of any other way..."

Derek was a little speechless.

He had made many guesses and none of them was like this. Maybe adults really couldn't understand

the world of children.

However, Easton's words were unexpectedly useful.

Derek was a little helpless. Meredith made no reactions no matter how much effort and how many

promises he had made. It was only when she heard that he was injured that she began to take the

initiative to care about him.

Did this also mean that the woman did care about him and that what Meredith cared about was him as

a person, not his possessions and power?

This idea made Derek feel much better.

Easton heaved a sigh of relief when he saw that his dad wasn't going to scold him.

"Dad, when are you going to make up with mom?"

Derek pondered for a moment. The sound of someone walking in high heels came in before he could

answer the question.

Violet came to visit Derek.

Her appearance reminded Derek that Meredith wouldn't accept him if Violet kept making troubles, even

if Meredith still loved him.
