Chapter 44
Chapter 44
The sound of the car’s wheel scrapping against the road caught my attention and reminded me the purpose of coming here With each step, I felt a mix of determination and trepidation, uncertainty clouding my thoughts like the brooding sky
above.
Shaking my head I stepped ahead only to be stopped by the gaurds.
“Ma’am, we are sorry but we can’t allow you in” they said.
“Why?”
“Sir has asked us not to let anyone enter one of them said.
“Your sir has asked me to come here at the first place” I said confidently.
I don’t want them to find out
“If you want, I could call him. But I’m not sure how he would react, considering you yourselves must have noticed that he’s upset.”
Both of them shared a look and after a prolong moment of stress they nodded their heads allowing me inside. As I walked past them, the weight of their watchful eyes lingered on my back.
I was greeted with silence and darkness. All the employees have returned and I have never came to the office at this time. Moving my eyes around I tried to find Luciano but he was not at the ground floor.
I am sure he must be at his cabin.
Not wanting to raise any suspicion, I opted for the stairs instead of the elevator. I can’t let Luciano come to know that I have came here. While ascending the stairs I made sure that my footsteps were not making noise.
I was out of breath by the time I reached his cabin but all my hard work paid off when I heard Luciano’s voice coming from his own cabin. The door to his cabin was slightly open. My heart quickened with a mix of anticipation and apprehension. NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.
“What the hell are you doing in my cabin, Sabrina, and how dare you touch my important papers?” Luciano’s voice thundered with anger, sending shivers down my spine.
His loud and enraged tone paralyzed me momentarily. I knew that consequences would be dire if Luciano caught me but something in me kept me moving forward.
“Don’t shout at me, Luciano!” Sabrina retorted with surprising intensity, her voice slicing through the air. “I know the truth, and that’s enough for me to expose you in front of the whole media and tarnish your image.
The truth?
Which truth?
Gulping down the rising anxiety and keeping my breaths low, I stood beside the door, so that they can’t see me. Inside, Luciano was giving deathly glares to Sabrina who was not ready to back down. Luciano’s secretary was standing beside him.
“Do you think Luciano De‘ Valentino will be scared of your empty threats?” Luciano scoffed, his voice laced with mockery.
“It’s your mistake if you think it’s an empty threat! I already have my hands on the papers of your fake marriage!” Sabrina retorted defiantly.
A gasp escaped my throat and I had to press my palm against my mouth to stop it from coming out and let them know about my presence.
“Fake or real, this is my life, and I would do whatever I want! Stay fucking out of it! Luciano’s shout reverberated through
the room, a forceful declaration tinged with frustration.
In response. Sabrina laughed throwing her head back like a devil, her laugh resonating in the room.
“I am out of this already! Now, media would do it’s work. I have already shared the news” she chuckled, reveling in the chaos- she had orchestrated.
“You…” Luciano began, his anger reaching a boiling point, and he moved as if to attack her, but his secretary stepped in to intervene
“Sir, I will take care of that. Don’t lose your temper,” his secretary urged, attempting to diffuse the tension that hung in the air like a storm about to unleash its fury.
Drawing deep breaths. Luciano struggled to regain composure. In that moment, I felt an overwhelming urge to run to him, to wrap him in a comforting embrace and assure him that he wasn’t alone.
Meanwhile, Sabrina, with a devilish smile, folded her arms across her chest. I could sense that something sinister was brewing in her mind. However, her next words left me utterly shocked to the core.
Just the
way you hide the fact that it was your own boss, aka Luciano De‘ Valentino, who spread the news of his fake
marriage.
My eyes widened to the point of coming out of their sockets as she threw the bombshell.
It was…it was Luciano who asked the media to print the news of our marriage?
Was our first night at the club was also a part of his plan?
Oh God!
Why he did all that?
My head spun with all these questions…..
