Chapter 22
Chapter 22
Poachers
Damien was smiling as he walked in the direction of the watchtower. The fresh memories of Allison on top of him left him grinning like a virgin goat. Truth be told, he had never had such a wonderful sex in his entire life.
Bring back history? If it wasn’t because of the crash-landing and the System, bruh would still be a virgin running errands, getting sacked by one club to the tossed to another.
Being a helpboy of the BMX group was a sheer luck!!! It was something he had cherished all his life before now. It was like going to prom with the hottest girl in high school. Forget about the pain and humiliation, no loser had been ever close to the BMX girls like him. Plus the pay was great too. Through BMX he was able to save his ass off and pay for his Grandpa’s surgery. The last time he saw his Grandpa was in the hospital. He was relieved that he must have been treated by now if everything was fine back at home.
These random thoughts which had just popped up in his mind were just kind reminders that eventually he would have to leave this island.
BUT BEFORE LEAVING, LET’S SET THINGS STRAIGHT AND GET POWERFUL FOR THE OUTER WORLD, IF THERE’S ANY.
He was now at the foot of the Boabab tree, on which the watchtower was built. He was going to start climbing when suddenly he heard whining behind him. He stopped.
“What was that?”
He turned in the direction of where he thought he heard the sound from. Nothing came again.
“Was my ear playing tricks on me?” He started climbing up the tree. Then again he heard the sound. But this time, it was more of whimpering than whining. He was convinced now. He slid down the tree and flipped out the system window. He scrolled up and called out the Navigator skill with his index finger.
He had realized recently that, while he could activate features, he could call out skills whenever he needed them. But some of the skills seemed innate already. It seemed like as the days goes by, the skills grow on him just like the system and start becoming a part of him. With the Navigator skill, he began to edge in the direction of the prints. “This is no human print.”
He knelt by the print and touched it. When he did, the green prints faded off.
He stood up and began to trail it till got to a place where there were creepers. The shrubs there were taller than the usual he had seen before.
“Where is it?”
The navigator’s print had all faded off, which meant whatever or whoever was making the sound must be there somewhere.
He turned his back, looking around. Suddenly, he heard from behind him.
“Oh shit.”
He cussed, turning slowly. The first instinct was to run, but how could you run when you have no idea of what’s after you? Isn’t that the dumbest and heart wrecking thing to do? There was a snow-white big wolf, flexing its fangs at Damien. The eyes of the wolf were creepily deep and red, they sent shivers down his spines. The wolf advanced towards him. Damien took a step back. Then he noticed that the wolf couldn’t move any further. It winced and dropped on its side. Damien saw an arrow in one of the
limbs of the wolf, blood had stained its beautiful fur. There were quite the numbers of thoughts he was burdened with at that moment.
“You’re hurt.”
He stopped reaching for his revolver. He should make better bow and more arrows. He couldn’t keep his life hanging on only one bullet. “But who shot you an arrow? Wait, is there an intruder on the my island?
He realized what he had just said.
“Yes, my island.”
He boasted. But that feeling didn’t last for long.
“If there’s really an intruder, then –” “Who are you?”
A deep croaky voice came from behind him. He turned at once, pulling out the revolver.
“And why are you standing in the way of my prey?” Damien observed the strange man. The man’s face was rough, unkempt beards and hair. His shirt was neat and his pants, he had hunting boots on. He had a rifle and a sac reaching across his left shoulder.
“Are you mute, boy? Step aside right now if you cherish your life. My brother is waiting for me.
YOUR BROTHER. SO YOU’RE TWO. Damien thought to himself. On the natural, the man had an advantage against him. But given by the system, Damien knew that he didn’t have to worry. He was the host. He wouldn’t dieNôvel(D)ra/ma.Org exclusive © material.
right? “What are you doing on my island?” He asked the man coldly. The man’s jaw dropped, eyes widening. Then the man laughed suddenly, revealing his dirty yellowish black teeth.
“What’s this nutjob saying. Do you really want me to send a bullet through that fine skull? It’ll be a waste of beauty.”
“How about you try, asshole?” The man lost it and pulled the trigger. Damien smoothly slid down, passing through the widely opened legs of the man. He planted two heavy punches in the knees of the man, which made him drop on his knees. Damien swiftly kicked the man’s head, making him fall face down. He stood up and walked to the man. He placed his shoe on the back of the man’s head, pushing his face into the earth, till the man’s face and nostrils were filled with earth. “Why kill a wild animal when it didn’t attack you? Do you do it for fun?” He kept the pressure on the man’s head till he was sure that the man wasn’t struggling anymore. He stopped and turned the man over. “Are you dead?” He pressed the shoe against the balls of the man who groaned and yelled in pain, “Brother!!!”
“This bastard.”
Damien pulled the trigger of the revolver and released a bullet in the man’s forehead. Headshot!
(Ping! Rid the territory of a poacher and gained 200 experience points and a system gem.) “How useless… 200 points. But you know, Mr poacher, I didn’t want to kill you. You made the move first… Damien answers when moves are firstly made.” He came to a sudden realization. “A system gem? That’s new. What’s that f–” “Arggghhhhh!!!” He heard a shout coming from behind him. He was way too slow to turn. Before he could turn, he’d felt a great weight on his back. Then he felt a shard edge on his neck; A man trying to slaughter him. The poacher’s brother?
