Chapter 52: Do You Want to End Your Life Here?
Let Charlotte stayed in prison? Jeffrey stunned for a second and looked up at Lawrence inexplicably.
With a murderous facial expression, Lawrence was apparently furious to learn that Charlotte is in
prison. Why now…
“Mr. Harris, Miss Garcia is a lady on her own after all, staying in that kind of place all the time, I'm afraid
she will..."
Lawrence opened his eyes and gave Jeffrey a cold glance, "Don't you want her to stay in prison all the
time?" Jeffrey was silent and wished to find a hole to bury his head in it. He then heard an unintelligible
sneer from Lawrence, “She should learn her lessons this time”.
...
In the suburbs...
There was a rush sound of footsteps from the corridor right after dawn. Then the iron gate opened with
a loud noise. "Charlotte Garcia, someone wants to see you. Get dressed and follow me!"
People in the room immediately sat up by hearing the warder’s words. While seeing Charlotte walking Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.
out silently to put on her shoes, the eldest woman immediately got up and grabbed Charlotte’s hand.
The woman lowered her voice to remind Charlotte, "Remember, girl, don't be a fool. No one in this
world is worth sacrificing your freedom. Your father and brother died to let you live your life, not to
waste it."
Charlotte spat her five-year story out to these women the other day. Unexpectedly, they were all deeply
touched by it, and their attitude towards her changed drastically. She could never imagine that it would
be such a group of strangers who gave her warmth and care for the first time during the past five years.
Thinking of this, Charlotte couldn’t help but have watery eyes. She nodded gently, "I won’t. Thank you
all."
Charlotte turned around and walked out the door. She followed the warder through the corridor and
entered a temporary meeting room. A man in dignified appearance was sitting in front of a long table
with his perfectly tailored black suit.
Charlotte frowned slightly. She was sure that she didn't know this person. She lowered her voice and
asked softly, "are you looking for me?" The man nodded when he heard the sound without getting up
from his seat. He squinted his eyes to look at her from head to toes and pointed his finger to the seat
on the opposite side.
"Miss Garcia, take a seat."
When Charlotte walked to the bench and sat down in confusion, the man immediately handed over a
business card and said solemnly, "I’m Raymond Porter. A few years ago, your father saved me in a car
accident. I am here to return his favor." Charlotte’s hand stiffened for a couple of seconds by holding
the business card. She looked up again and found the way he looked at her was sharpened and more
scrutinizing.
"I am aware of what happened to the Garcia family recently. Miss Garcia, you have tried to kill yourself
so many times while your enemy walked out freely from it. And you lost your freedom in this world
again. Do you ever regret it?"
Charlotte bit her lip fiercely. Her face gradually turned pale with her squeezing the card and her veins
bulging on the back of her hand. After a long while, she whispered, "Do I still have a choice?" Her
father and brother died, and she inexplicably became a jinx to Lawrence. Allison clearly wanted to ruin
her completely. "Besides, I did deliberately try to hit someone after all..." she said.
The man curled up his lips into a subtle smile and interrupted her decisively, "It doesn't matter. You only
need to tell me, do you want to end your life here, or do you want to go out and live a better life? Apart
from this, that's my business."
