After Divorcing my Captain Husband (Chloe and Michael)

Chapter 648 New Role

Chloe's words hit Christopher like a sore spot, leaving him with no room to resist. "Alright, alright, I'll do it. I'll apologize!" he said.

He irritably swatted at the script on the table beside him, venting his frustration.

Chloe felt that the matter wasn't over yet. Gideon's words were still swirling in her head.Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org exclusive © material.

This role was simply too mismatched for Christopher. While a good actor could play any role, Christopher was still a newcomer. This level of challenge was too much for him; it wouldn't do him any good. "I'll have Beckett arrange a new role for you. You should give up this one."

Christopher remained silent, but his agent, who had been sitting behind him, suddenly stood up, speaking out in discontent. "Why change roles? Do you know how much effort we put in to get him this opportunity?" Chloe only then noticed the man sitting behind Christopher. He was about 5'7" with an unremarkable physique. If he hadn't spoken, Chloe wouldn't have even seen him. "Are you Christopher's agent?"

The man proudly raised his head. "Of course. I'm Nolan Shepard."

Chloe felt even more disdain for him.

A large part of Christopher's current behavior was due to this agent's failure to intervene, allowing the young man's arrogance to grow unchecked. "Before you let him take this role, did you consider whether he was suitable for it?"

Nolan was momentarily speechless but still didn't see any fault in his actions. "Why would he play a supporting role when he could play the lead?"

There was truth to that, but only if you had the acting chops to back it up.

Chloe sensed that she and Nolan weren't on the same wavelength, so she didn't bother arguing further. Instead, she turned to Christopher. "Are you going to listen to him or me?" Christopher hesitated.

Nolan had been by his side since his debut. He was decent enough, never forcing him to do anything he didn't like, and generally supportive of his choices.

He often said that the entertainment industry lacked authenticity, that people like Christopher were rare gems, and that one day, everyone would recognize his brilliance.

But now, Chloe was openly challenging Nolan's decisions right in front of him.

If Nolan was wrong, it meant everything he'd done before was also incorrect.

Christopher felt confused.

Seeing Christopher's hesitation, Nolan glared at Chloe. "Who are you anyway? Are you Nolan? Have you ever managed an artist? Do you even know the rules of the entertainment industry? The company sent you here to solve problems, not meddle in other matters!" Chloe found his tone offensive. She frowned. "Who am I? Why don't you call your boss and find out?"

She was here to help James handle this situation, not to be looked down upon. That was no way!

Her words jolted Christopher awake.

Chloe was with James, and James was his ultimate boss, the head of Bright Moon Entertainment.

It was crystal clear whose opinion mattered more.

He looked at Chloe and finally said, "What kind of role do you want me to switch to?"

Chloe didn't know; she hadn't read the script. "Show me your script, let me take a look."

Nolan scoffed, convinced that Chloe was bluffing.

She wasn't even in the entertainment industry. She couldn't possibly understand its rules!

Chloe flipped through the script, carefully examining the roles of several characters in the film. Finally, she pointed to one and said, "This one."

Both Christopher and his agent, Nolan, leaned in closer. Upon seeing which character Chloe had chosen, Nolan's face immediately darkened. "Are you crazy? That's a villain role, and not even a major one at that."

She actually wanted Christopher to take on such a role!

"Are you deliberately trying to sabotage Christopher's career?"

Chloe ignored Nolan and looked directly at Christopher.

"Although this character isn't the male lead or the second lead, his character arc is the most complete. Even though he's a villain, his struggles and helplessness can be portrayed powerfully. If you play it well, you'll be even more memorable than the leading man." At first, Christopher also thought Chloe was playing a prank on him. But after hearing her explanation, he began to reconsider. This role... was indeed as she described.
